It was quite easy actually, as he was in the air when he took the ball which is why it was such a piece of cake to soften the touch.

That's what Dion Dublin said on Football Focus.

Who was renowned for that sort of goal of course.
Christ almighty.

If Dublin had tried to take that down it would have gone for a throw

Unfortunately and i include myself in this K/M is worthy of Goal of the Season but like many i suspect the winner will be from Liverpool and a goal scored in April.

But could Kaoru Mitoma estimate the monthly rental value of a two bedroom terraced house in Stoke on Trent with no functioning kitchen and some damp issues upstairs?

There have been comparisons in the media with a Bergkamp goal.

Not one of the pundits will dare say that the Mitoma goal was better (assume so as not to attract the ire of the Arse fans).

But Mitoma's goal is at a faster pace and as you point out, the act of leaping, whilst running flat out and bringing the ball down, for me is far more difficult than the Bergkamp effort.

With defenders in closer attendance.

Agree. It's far harder than the, still exceptional, goal Bergkamp scored, but we've got to concede that was a last minute winner to knock Argentina out of the world Cup, so will inevitably live longer in the memory

Oh. It looked like it was against Leicester City at Filbert Street to me.

Nor point out the stairs going up to the bedrooms.

I just don’t see him doing that.

Also the other pundit (was it Steph Houghton?) said that he did well to control it as he wasn’t watching the ball. Err... he may not have been facing the ball, but he was watching it alright. That’s how he was in the right place to take it.

Thankfully they agreed that the goal was well good and that Chelsea are underperforming. Little or no mention of Minteh’s goals (I might have missed it if they did say anything).

Quality punditry all round there.

On NSC for over two decades...
It's weird, but I don't think we've ever really fully appreciated just how extremely fortunate we are to be able to see Mitoma play up close and personal on a near weekly basis. People fly in from Japan just for the chance to see him play. A truly world-class player and a model professional. We are truly blessed
A modern day Stanley Matthews.

I just made my other half watch it, not sure she quite understood the amazing skill involved😄

I'm on your side as far as the football is concerned, but in the interest of equality I hope she makes you watch the Great British Sewing Bee, or something like that, and returns the favour :D

First touch aside, the 3rd touch was sublime too to make the perfect space. Thats the bit often ballesed up. And the 2nd touch, drawing the defender/teeing it up... and the assist, perfect, and this goal couldn't have happened under RDZ. Love a well placed keeper assist, the goalies normally got the biggest kick in the team and if you can land them on a sixpence like that it's a powerful weapon in our toolkit.
Great team celebration as well like "what did you just do" especially from Rutter and Wellbz
Magic moment
You say that, but at home to Brentford…

As a Valentine's compromise, I watched the film 'Emily' last night...whilst keeping an eye on Albion v Chelsea updates.

Apparently, I only watched us play Chelsea a few days ago, so why would I need to watch the same thing again?🤣

I've more than done my duty😀

One day, we will look back on Mitoma like we currently do with Ward, Zamora, Vicente.

He's already an Albion icon - but it's not fully realised yet, in part because he's been part of squads full of talent, in what is our golden era. But he's one player that Albion fans old and new, decades into the future, will be revering and idolising... his very special skills and goals will be remembered and replayed by Albion fans again and again until the end of time.
I think he’s arguably surpassed Zamora and Vincente for some of our fans. Not Ward level but he could be in later years. Unless he decided to suddenly leave and f’ off somewhere then he’s an icon/legend already. He plastered all over our stadium, the children have him on their shirts and he’s brang in thousands of new fans from Japan. He’s also one of the most gifted players we’ve ever had.
