Just a little quote from the Times report - couldn't put it better myself.

At full tilt, Mitoma levitated balletically and time slowed; he raised his right boot to meet the ball and slipped it under his spell. He killed the momentum of an 80-yard pass over his shoulder, touched it to his right and then slotted the ball into the far corner.

It was good from the other end of the ground, but that is something else

He treats the ball as carefully as a snooker player treats the cue ball. Except he does it when it’s coming at him at tremendous pace, over his shoulder and having been dispatched from another postal district. Not sure I’ve ever seen anything quite like it. He’s a wizard.
I mean…what to say except the man somehow finds new heights to scale. Love Bart saying they practiced it in training. It’s not just magic appearing from thin air (although there’s a lot of that), it’s as much about old-fashioned hard work and preparation. Absolutely off the scale sensational. Breathtaking.

If this was Salah, we literally wouldn't stop hearing about it.
Sky kept showing it and Carragher kept talking about it during the game and after, even asking Danny Welbeck about it

"levitated balletically" is a wonderfully memorable turn of phrase to encapsulate a moment of beautiful genius.

As well as his uni thesis on visual information processing and the art of dribbling, he must also have studied the biomechanical benefits of jumping up when killing these long balls stone dead...

Genuinely the best first touch I've ever seen.

I couldn't control a football like that with my hands if you threw it to me from 15 yards away.

Carragher’s quote in commentary; ‘That’s Messi-like, and I don’t say that lightly’ 😍

One day, we will look back on Mitoma like we currently do with Ward, Zamora, Vicente.

He's already an Albion icon - but it's not fully realised yet, in part because he's been part of squads full of talent, in what is our golden era. But he's one player that Albion fans old and new, decades into the future, will be revering and idolising... his very special skills and goals will be remembered and replayed by Albion fans again and again until the end of time.

One of the best goals I have ever seen live
Sat in the family stand, I didn't appreciate just how good it was at the time. I watched it back about 20 times last night and that touch is astonishing. Hearing the Sky boys go crazy about it was just bizarre!

I'll tell you what, if he keeps on performing at this level, some Palace fans will agree that he's good enough to make their bench (for cup games against lower league teams obviously - but it is progress). Oh and:

If this was Salah, we literally wouldn't stop hearing about it.
Still discussing it at great length on SSN this morning.
