what about Carlton Cole?

Ok, I'll bite. He is f*cking Shiiiiiiiiiiiiiite. How he is a footballer I do not know. Absolutre joke of a player, happy to stay & be a bit part at West Sham cos of his wages. Lazy, no ambition, no talent. Just lucky that some mug gave him a good contract.

I like others have that horrible feeling, we aren't going to get anyone. Another occasion where I wish Gus wouldn't say anything to get all our hopes up. Hopefully I'm proved wring and we sign someone but it's been proven to happen couple of times recently.

Is this a staggering over-reaction?

We've signed Hoskins, Buckley, Harley, KLL (with a view to sign), CMS. Basically all the best players from last seasons League One. How has Gus ever got this wrong? The only thing that has happened in recent times (as ever) is that people on NSC get over-excited. Gus has a stunning record - don't for one second suggest otherwise please. Thank you.

Juniors with Premier clubs and strikers in lower leagues are both affordable. What are not affordable are "names", ageing journeymen.

Poyet positive he will add to his squad before deadline From The Argus

Gus Poyet remains confident of landing the striker he craves before tomorrow’s transfer deadline.

The Albion boss was hoping to secure the services of his main target yesterday but a deal could not be finalised.

Negotiations will continue with the player today while Poyet has hinted he is also in the market for a “special” player to add the final piece to his squad.

Poyet said: “We are working very hard and I am positive we will get someone in before the deadline.

“We need a striker and that is our main target but if someone else comes up who is special then that is a unique opportunity and you can’t say no.

“My phone will be ringing non-stop over the next two days.

“I thought the deal for a striker would be done yesterday but it wasn’t so things could go right up to the deadline.”

Poyet admits he has been surprised with how well his side have begun life back in the Championship but has warned his rivals they will be even better when action resumes after the international break.

He added: “I am always positive but we have done better than I expected. I am glad we have a break now though and am not worried about losing momentum.

“It is important the players have a rest as we have not had too many bodies to change things around. I’ve not even been able to put a striker on the bench the last few games so this break gives us time to recover.

“When we come back after the break Will Hoskins and Will Buckley will be available again and Adam El-Abd will be back in another week so we will be in a better position.”
