I was all for reducing fossil fuels etc (which we are doing) but I’m now tempted to form ‘Use More Oil’ and get a group together. Won’t be hard to get members. Will hide behind the message (as it won’t make a difference anyway) and just try and cause as much disruption to JSO as possible

It's quite an old fashioned idea that a wedding is all about the man taking on a chattel. It's more often seen as a partnership of equals. Does Mrs. Osborne equally deserve it?

It's not the confetti itself that's the problem, because in itself it's harmless and easily ignored. It's the principle that it's trying to establish, that if you don't like a politician you are entitled to go after his private life and his family as well. Private life and family should be left alone.

But the point you were making — that there’s only one form of violence against women, or people in general, and that this was a trivial, inconsequential gesture — was disingenuous. Again, it was a bit of performative protest that only increases hostility to the environmental lobby, and therefore totally counterproductive. It took me 30+ years of placard waving (until after Iraq) to work this out.

I don't think people know enough about the issues in order to have an informed opinion about JSO, including myself. The government have recently granted licences for new oilfields to be opened off the north coast of Scotland. That appears to be against the direction of travel re the use of fossil fuels. Why did they take those decisions? Why haven't they allowed more onshore wind?

These are the issues that don't get the airtime they deserve while we get bollocks about Prince Harry and enquiries into Tory lies and sleaze day after day.

that's known, locals dont want onshore windfarms. the politicans will say they want them built, then in face of local hostility say no we wont after all, dropping legislation that will force it through. (see also home building.) easier to get offshore wind through and there is a steady flow of developments, but more costly and longer to build.

Not strictly true that. According to polls and a quick Google search. Polling shows that 77 per cent of people say they would support a new onshore wind farm being built in their area.
Politicians claim the majority are dead set against it. I call bollocks. As a matter of interest would it bother many on here if a wind farm was near by?
