Don’t even know who he is - I’m sure some rich Tory oil type but that is too far. Attending uninvited is bad enough - wedding days should be private for those who are invited. Really doesn’t sit right.

I was all for reducing fossil fuels etc (which we are doing) but I’m now tempted to form ‘Use More Oil’ and get a group together. Won’t be hard to get members. Will hide behind the message (as it won’t make a difference anyway) and just try and cause as much disruption to JSO as possible 🤣
You don't know who the former Chancellor is?

To be fair, George Osbourne imposed ideological austerity which led indirectly to the deaths of around 350,000 people, decimated our public services and left us dangerously exposed to a global pandemic.

So yeah, f*** him and his (latest) wedding.
It falls in the category of 'I know it’s damaging the cause but at least it makes me feel better for a bit.'

If some tried to ruin my wife's or daughters special day they would be dealt with.

Consequences for actions.
When people told me there were people who advocated violence against women, I assumed they meant in retaliation to a physical attack. Now I know they meant throwing the wrong coloured pieces of tissue paper deserves a good kicking. Who knew?

Disingenuous.

Don’t think there’s anyone more deserving of this than George Osbourne
It's quite an old fashioned idea that a wedding is all about the man taking on a chattel. It's more often seen as a partnership of equals. Does Mrs. Osborne equally deserve it?

It's not the confetti itself that's the problem, because in itself it's harmless and easily ignored. It's the principle that it's trying to establish, that if you don't like a politician you are entitled to go after his private life and his family as well. Private life and family should be left alone.

No, sarcasm. But thanks for playing anyway.
Obviously you were being sarcastic. That’s a given. But the point you were making — that there’s only one form of violence against women, or people in general, and that this was a trivial, inconsequential gesture — was disingenuous. Again, it was a bit of performative protest that only increases hostility to the environmental lobby, and therefore totally counterproductive. It took me 30+ years of placard waving (until after Iraq) to work this out.

I'm sure your wife/daughter would be delighted as you were escorted off in a police car after assaulting someone at their wedding. That would really de-escalate the situation and allow them to go on with the day.

And that relates to an asshat on here saying he would knock a woman unconscious, how? You are really going to burn through this account quite quickly. Best scurry off and come up with another name.

I don't think people know enough about the issues in order to have an informed opinion about JSO, including myself. The government have recently granted licences for new oilfields to be opened off the north coast of Scotland. That appears to be against the direction of travel re the use of fossil fuels. Why did they take those decisions? Why haven't they allowed more onshore wind?

These are the issues that don't get the airtime they deserve while we get bollocks about Prince Harry and enquiries into Tory lies and sleaze day after day.
Yep and perhaps that’s the stuff to get angry about.

It's a private function.

Someone's special day.

Anyone who thinks they have some special right to crash that needs a massive slap.
What they want is for people like you to get really worked up, red in the face with rage and the mouth froth dripping.

They then require you to go all over social media and bleat about the incident which is exactly what you have done. They have won, you have lost. You’ve given them free publicity rather than ignoring them.

that's known, locals dont want onshore windfarms. the politicans will say they want them built, then in face of local hostility say no we wont after all, dropping legislation that will force it through. (see also home building.) easier to get offshore wind through and there is a steady flow of developments, but more costly and longer to build.

what isn't talked about is what we are willing to give up to maintain an oil and gas free world.
Not strictly true that. According to polls and a quick Google search. Polling shows that 77 per cent of people say they would support a new onshore wind farm being built in their area.
Politicians claim the majority are dead set against it. I call bollocks. As a matter of interest would it bother many on here if a wind farm was near by?
