Don’t think there’s anyone more deserving of this than George Osbourne
It’s not about Gorgeous George though is it? He’s inconsequential. It’s about people desperately trying to draw attention to the fact our Gov’t couldn’t give a flying f*** about Green New Deals or Net Zero. They have missed every single target they set. They have issued new oil and gas licences. The planet recorded its hottest ever week, both poles are melting. But yeah ‘knock a woman out for trying to draw attention to it.

Not in Whitechapel
It’s quite remarkable how many people on the internet would quite simply kick the shit out of any JSO protestors they saw, yet there’s been what? 1 person who attacked them in real life.

They really do have an incredible sense of when there isn’t any of those women beating, tough as f*ck legends about.

Not strictly true that. According to polls and a quick Google search. Polling shows that 77 per cent of people say they would support a new onshore wind farm being built in their area.
Politicians claim the majority are dead set against it. I call bollocks. As a matter of interest would it bother many on here if a wind farm was near by?
It depends which way the wind is blowing.

Unless he has made a last minute come back that went under my radar, didn't Ozzy leave the commons some years ago?

To me disrupting Ozzy's wedding seems a bit like setting fire to Arthur Scargill's shed.

Doesn't your first sentence point to the fact that they aren't getting their message across effectively so maybe they need to consider a different approach?
Not really. I think it's more that people are more interested in slagging off and punishing protesters, rather than addressing the elephant in the room.

The confetti was at someone’s (private) wedding, not a sporting event…….which is out of order imo. Anyone in the public eye will maybe now have to think about security for their weddings, christenings and birthday parties ? Sporting events are fairer game perhaps, blocking roads not so much.
Gatecrashing is wrong, sure. But confetti at a wedding? I think Gorgeous George and Mrs Osbourne #2 will get over it! They're probably more concerned about all of the other shit that went on around the wedding.

Most on here will be familiar with the Rampion wind farm which, with a bit of luck, we'll find out that it will get even bigger later on this year

Made the news, and we’re talking about it on a football forum. That’s objective achieved when it comes to protest, isn’t it?

But when it comes to an actual proposal to build a wind farm, not a theoretical one, how many change their minds?

But no issue with many people trying to ruin the planet for them.
Assumption isn’t good. Most people believe we need to be greener. Talking about the actions of these protestors is a different matter. It’s quite easy to differentiate the two.

I don't know. An agreement that the nearer you live to a wind farm the more help you'd get with energy bills would be a reasonable compromise.

And that relates to an asshat on here saying he would knock a woman unconscious, how? You are really going to burn through this account quite quickly. Best scurry off and come up with another name.
What is this 'other name' bollocks? I've never been near this forum until less than a month ago.

Just understand that I'm allowed to disagree with you. The shame is that I'm sure we agree on most of the ultimate campaign aims but JSO strategy is making it harder to influence the people who need to change. That's my firm belief and I see the evidence for that whenever I see people's reactions to the childish antics of JSO. You're playing into the hands of the enemy but you're too naive and idealistic to see it.

I would quite happily have solar panels installed on my roof( and I assume most people would) if it helped bring down my lecci bills.

but being a poor pensioner, £5k+ is a tad steep.

maybe the tories instead of painting over Micky mouse to make little brown skin children sad, could instead use the money to subsidise solar panels for all?

What they want is for people like you to get really worked up, red in the face with rage and the mouth froth dripping.

They then require you to go all over social media and bleat about the incident which is exactly what you have done. They have won, you have lost. You’ve given them free publicity rather than ignoring them.
You seem incapable of understanding that almost no one is talking about the issue. What I hear on radio phone-ins and read in newspaper editorials is people discussing how to control what's perceived as violent and disruptive protests. This is the irony.

easy to say so in a survey, then sign the petition when one is actually proposed down the road. trouble is NIMBYs are very vocal and persistent, there isnt usually a pro lobby to argue for a development. Mrs Jennings from Hampshire Society for Birds and 100 people the other side of town complaining about the eye sore and noise can object to wind turbines being built. you can call bollocks, look in to any planning and find a long list of objections played out over years before anything gets built, and often doesnt.

example, the turbines off the A27 north of Polegate. 3-4 years for permission with every group making daft arguments against. objections about the view from South Downs, the impact on Pevensey levels miles to the east, usual animal protection groups. Hailsham Town council objected when it was out of their area and no one from Hailsham could see them. i beleive there was supposed to be 6 or 8, reduced numbers was one way of getting past objections to noise (next the A27 ffs).
