But they can get away with it, because people will just keep voting for them come what may. It seems too many people in this country just don’t care.

They will get away with it. Until they don’t. These people always come unstuck in the end. It’s just gut-wrenching watching them wreck the U.K. and destroy decades, in some cases hundreds of years of safeguarding, reforms, accountability checks and human rights legislation.

It’s genuinely upsetting.

Rumours are Peston and other Journos attended as well

Not sure why the presence of journalists constitutes the story here. The story is that the government held a party in contravention of the rules they implemented, and those rules have prosecuted members of the public that ignored them.

It’s not the main story

But it’s an interesting side story, these are the guys whose main questions have been “why are you not bringing in further restrictions” in media briefings whisky potentially attending a party.

You also have the part of them covering up this going on.

Apart from anything else it shows how seriously they really take the danger of Covid.

This government is even more of a shambles than I could have imagined. It exudes a combination of a large majority with incompetence, corruption, and sense of entitlement and is backed by supporters who are either wilfully ignorant of their behaviour, don't care or are just tribal...... a poisonous mix for the well being of our country

I think there will be a deserved backlash at the next election. We shall see. I think a lot of their borrowed (Brexit) voters will switch. I just wish Labour were a viable alternative.

it's a government validated by voter apathy, they'll say there wasn't a party despite evidence and everyone else saying their was, showing how little respect they have for the electorate. "i'll piss in your face and laugh at you but you'll still vote for me"

Owen Patterson's seat is up for grabs later this month, the Tories have parachuted someone in who isn't from the area and he's expected to hold the seat, even the most brazen corruption will not get punished. "we'll steal your money and laugh at you, we'd do the same again tomorrow, why? because you'll vote for us again tomorrow"

Quite a few Labour are lending the LibDems their vote and the Reform candidate will hopefully split the right-wing vote.

Apart from anything else it shows how seriously they really take the danger of Covid.

I think we knew how seriously they really took it through their actions at the start of it and the reluctance to do anything during it. A Prime Minister taking Covid seriously, for example, wouldn't have;

- Boasted about shaking hands with hospital patients in a Covid ward
- Called the project to secure ventilators "Operation Last Gasp"
- Have gone for herd immunity in March 2020 and only backed down when the scientists basically told him he'd be hung out to dry for it
- Refused to mandate masks even after July in certain places
- Delayed lockdown in March 2020, November 2020 and December 2020

They've regarded this pandemic throughout as being little more than a trifle inconvenient and a good smokescreen for some pretty nefarious activities. Even after Johnson nearly died of it he still didn't seem to take it seriously. We're not dealing with ordinary people here.

Dear God, please make this happen..... and show the world that the good people of England will make a stand against corruption

Got to say if I'd voted for a guy who doesn't even know when there's a party with 50 people taking place in his own house to be Prime Minister I'd be feeling pretty embarrassed right now.

...but being a shameless narcissist he doesn't feel embarrassment, or empathy, or a sense of responsibility, or an understanding of public service, or anything remotely worthy of respect and the 'stakeholders' who seek to keep him in power have conceded 'embarrassment' in favour of personal advancement...
