Last week it was the word "corrupt" this week its "dictatorship"

I know Clarke is no fan of Johnson but he is still a Tory and former Thatcherite, to say this is pretty shocking

Terms such as dictatorship, fascism, end of democracy when this government acts incompetently or does something people don't like just shows the levels of idiocy surrounding political debate in this country.

I prefer corruption, lack of accountability and crypto-fascism; lets face it the are a fair in the current Tory party that don't hide their admiration of Trump and his political model

A second example in one day of not being able to read. Ken Clarke used the word dictatorship.

So, Johnson runs away again. He enjoyed hospitality in the Windsor suite at Heathrow before flying back out to his mate’s freebie villa in Marbella.

Maybe the new cohort of tory MPs will fatally undermine the established corrupt crew; one can only hope.....

Two Tory tribes have gone to war this week, as the “sleaze” scandal engulfing the UK government descended into public bickering between old and young Conservative MPs over second jobs and what it means to be a parliamentarian.

“Do our constituents not deserve for us to focus on actually delivering those promises we made to them and things that matter to them?” Alicia Kearns, elected to parliament in 2019, asked in the House of Commons. The veteran backbencher Sir Christopher Chope responded that she had not “applied her mind” to the principle of debate.

The testy exchange over the government’s initial support for Owen Paterson over lobbying allegations and the wider row over reforming outside interests for MPs has exposed a new generational fault line in the Conservative party. It pits “the old and bold” long-serving backbenchers against the up and coming 2019 intake of 107 MPs. One seasoned Tory described the split as “the red wall versus red corduroy”.

The rise of the younger intake is likely to gradually push the Tories in a different policy*direction, with a focus on more interventionist economics, a liberal approach to planning reform plus a more pugnacious style of campaigning.

The 2019 intake is more diverse in sex, ethnicity and political outlook than older Conservative MPs, and represents the first generation of millennial Tories: Kearns was not even born when Chope first entered the Commons in 1983.

While many older Tories have racked up thousands in outside earnings, long after their ministerial careers have finished, the newest intake are primarily focused on their constituencies and getting into government. Although prime minister Boris Johnson’s first instinct was to back the old guard on second jobs, he backtracked and ultimately sided with the new intake, who view parliament as their sole employment.

I'm a bit torn which group is worse, some of the red wall intake are of incredibly low standard it was never intended they would become MP's

so YOU think ken clarke is an idiot then?

I think anyone using the terms previously described is making an idiotic comment. That doesn't necessarily mean they are an idiot, for instance, you occasionally make idiotic comments but I still hold out hope that you are not an idiot.

Add Nadine "explain the customs union to me" Dorries to the list

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-59305080

Latest from her... apparently social media has been hijacked by lefties....

Nadine Dorries is finding out the hard way, that tweeting abuse, and then deleting it, doesn't get rid of the tweets. There is an app that shows up deleted tweets, and people have also taken screenshots of her abuse to others.
