Now we have left the EU we have literally stopped illegal immigration.

quite a stark picture, shown before. what policy has led to this though? is there a net increase of immigration or displacement of immigration from other routes? what are the factors behind it?

Whilst we discussing the most obvious topics, the health service is quietly being sold off.

This week, the third reading of the Health bill is going through the HofC.
Why aren’t people protesting? Where are the banners?

So many distractions, dead cats etc the public just don’t know or, even worse, don’t care.

You don’t know what you’ve got til it’s gone!

Tory MP on the radio (5) now is blaming the French. He is also claiming that now the lorries are better policed people are flocking to boats, and it is simply a case of criminals creating a new way of making money.

For what it's worth I suspect there is an additional factor, that the French have given up patrolling their own beaches now we have left the EU, and are not bothered about people leaving France for the UK. In other words.......Brexit.

Oh, and now a lorry driver is claiming he can't park 100 miles from Calais because someone will break into his trailer.

One thing it can't be is our traitor foreigner-loving labour government that is fabled the world over as a soft touch.

So there has been an issue with this for decades and some tories (Major's '********' and the carpet-bagging Boris gang) have made it toxic by making it party political. Very hard to fix, now, unless we spend a great deal of money shooing boats back to France.

possible, i thought there were supposed to be more patrols in the past couple of years. the change of policing at ports, with new enforecment of checks would make the ferry route more difficult.

I'm not sure that that is 100% a full reflection.

If I recall correctly, we agreed a deal with our French cousins to increase security in return for a sum of £50m. It appears that one side did not provide the service agreed in the deal.

Paul Lincoln, the director general of Border Force, told the committee that the French authorities had made more than 2,100 interceptions in the Channel in the first six months of 2020, compared with 6,000 this year.
Despite the surge in such crossings, the UK continues to receive far fewer boat arrivals and asylum claims than many of its European counterparts.

I look forward to hearing Priti Patel demanding we get our money back.

I believe we refused to cough up.

But you posted above "If I recall correctly, we agreed a deal with our French cousins to increase security in return for a sum of £50m. It appears that one side did not provide the service agreed in the deal."

Why would the French do what was agreed if we didn't keep our side of the bargain? Either we paid them for their services or we didn't. Which is it?
