West is BEST
If there's one group of people who have as much (if not more) underlying contempt for the public as the Tories supposedly do, it's the group who continually claim they know best and anyone not thinking the way they do are gullible/idiots ... amusingly this group have yet to work out that the patronising bellend strategy isn't great for changing minds/winning arguments or securing new votes.

It’s hard to take you seriously because your counter argument lacks any detail. It’s, as always, references to the “group claiming to know best”.
That you are frustrated and angered by anyone opposing the right wing agenda set out by certain tracts of media, lobbyists and the current government, which you have sunk your hopes into, comes across clearly.
The grounds for that frustration is a little more vague. Which makes one think that you don’t really know yourself.

Just how does one engage with/change their minds/argue with gullible idiots?

It seems they just want to post utter drivel and avoid any kind of ongoing discussion as to which direction things seem to be heading, in spite of how it's presented.
Maybe if they were willing to take their stubby digits out of their ears, there might be a chance, but I sincerely doubt it.

To be fair I do agree with JCFC to some extent, posting a balanced, factual and articulate piece of journalism was clearly wasted on them. I thought perhaps something that wasn't hate-filled, opinion based by someone on the Murdoch payroll may have been a bit refreshing. Ah well, not for the want of trying !

I do laugh when Hancock announces a major restructuring of the NHS while we are still in the throes of our Covid-19 crisis.

Hancock is part of Johnson's government, but, Johnson has fought tooth and nail against any inquiry into the government's handling of Covid-19 quoting that " it is not appropriate to launch an inquiry while we are in the midst of fighting Covid - 19" .... So, ok to launch a major restructure in the midst of a pandemic but NOT an enquiry?

Cronyism is nothing new but to do it off the back of a pandemic where your citizens are dying by the thousands is truly something else

Yougov is owned by Nadhim Zahawi, the Vaccine Minister in the government. It’s hardly likely to present a neutral picture of voting intentions.
That must be why they had Labour leading in their previous poll. Can you provide any convincing evidence showing a Tory bias?

Provide the evidence of Labour leading in their previous poll so we can compare dates and data.

so which way do we want to analyse this. if there was more strict lockdown there may have been fewer deaths (speculative) with more impact to GDP. if we have less restrictions and kept more economy running would have been better GDP but at cost of more deaths.

assuming government simply made a hash of everything and ended up with worst of both worlds, what is the goldilocks set of policies that would have minimised death rate whilst least impact on GDP?

YouGov wouldnt have got where it is if it only produced bias polls favouring the founder's interests.

The root of our performance is poor governance, Johnson has acted too late throughout, ignored experts and failed to take the hard decisions when he needed to and instead waited until decisions were made are easy. Its been a theme from the very start

Put this on top of a country with big inequality gap, a lack of pandemic preparedness and public services that have been run down for a decade and its been a toxic mix.

I'm not Jeremy Hunt's biggest fan, but imagine how much better place we'd be in now if we'd put a grown up in charge of us

Interestingly he didn't wait when pulling us out of Lockdown 2 and did it far too early - resulting in the last minute Christmas fiasco and a longer Lockdown 3.

Also his horrific Eat Out to Help The Virus scheme should have never happened at all.

We knew one year ago that Covid came into this country with a doctor in Hove. He self isolated immediately, and his surgery in Hollingbury closed for two weeks.
Johnson didn't bother going to Cobra meetings
Operation Cygnus was ignored so hospitals were woefully underprepared for handling epidemics let alone a pandemic.
Four weeks later the Liverpool match, and Cheltenham still went ahead. Johnson himself boasted about going into hospital shaking people's hands.
Patients were shipped out of hospitals without any testing into care and nursing homes causing death tolls to soar.
Test and trace was farmed out to a private company who made a complete hash of it.
Eat out to help out helped spread the virus even further.
21000 people landing at Heathrow alone without even getting a temperature check.
PPE contracts were handed out to companies who had no experience of making it and some had to be ditched.
The head of test and trace admitted she didn't realise that viruses mutate.
etc etc etc
