Just back from my jolly up in Worthing

Enjoyed the first half second half not so good, But the highlight of the day was Charlie Oatway, well done mate you will be given the captains armband and drive us to promotion this coming season.

Yes I know I am slighty pickled but trust me he will.

quite right , Charlie threw himselfs into tackles and looked strong

HOWEVER i think it would be harsh on Hammo to lose it now just 'cause Charlies back (especially as he's more likely to be in the squad more then Charlie)

i'll drink to Promotion mind.

I agree with what you say about Hammond, but did you notice that Charlie was shouting out the orders.

Worthing were hard in the tackle and so was Charlie.

i did , but then so was El-Abd second half - doesn't really sell it to me that he should be captain either!

So you are basing the fact that we will get promotion on a 45 minute display against non league oppositon?

Personally Oatway should not be let near the first team again, Hammond should keep the captaincy

Were you there??

If so you were watching a completely different game to me.Oatway showed the passion we've been missing for the last two years, judging on his tackles today,be it a non league or Premiership player, they wouldn't win the ball from him!

Ive actually got better things to do then go to Worthing. Whether i was there or not is irrelevant. Im disputing the fact that Oatways performance against a fifth rate non league team is a barrier on which to base the fact we will get promotion. Id rather see a player with skill and verve in centre mid. Passion doesnt necessarily win you games.

By the way, are you going to Braintree or Billericay? I am....

I can comment because ive watched Oatway for the last 7 seasons. Just coz i missed todays game doesnt deny me the right of opinion.

So have I!

Saying he should be let no where near the first squad is a rediculous statement after such a great performance today.

So what if passion doesn't win you games - it's what our players have for a few seasons and Charlie leads by example on the pitch.

And did I say he had no other skill than passion? He put at least two great through balls to Elder and Robinson in the first half and everytime he recieved the ball he found a pass to someone in space.

Do you mean ridiculous?

Peter Taylor also thought Oatway should be out of the team, thus we won the Championship. See you at Braintree??

Oatway should start this year as sub, no more. Hammond and Reid should be given a chance in the middle of midfield and if oatway forces his way in fair enough but I very much doubt he will unless hammond moves over to the left.

interesting seeing Cox play in the centre. It worked quite well.

Butters was his usual self in the centre of defence (although more like midfield today).

Charlie started 27 league games and was sub in 5, he was still a big part of the side that won the Championship under Taylor, not to mention two other promotion winning Albion teams. Charlie was also playing very well the season he broke his ankle, our results went down hill after Boxing Day, we only won 3 games in that second half of the season.

It's far too early to tell if he's past it or not but judging by his performance today after 18months out he is certainly going to give everything trying to get back into the first team squad and for that we should be supporting him.
