It's Charlie lack of positional sense and creativity that concern me. I've never doubted his passion and commitment to the club. I hope he proves me wrong this season and plays regularly for the team but I just can't see it. We need to move forward - not back.

I just doubt you can use his medals from years back as an argument for saying he is up to it now:lol:

Much like Michel Kuipers.

Charlie did well today - put himself about a bit and crashed into a few 50:50 challenges. That will have done him more good than any amount of running and training drills.

I hope he bounces back this season - only time will tell. There seemed no doubt today that he is well up for it.

Its all well and good that Charlie can get into tackles, but we're talking about a non-league team here. Wait till we play much more tougher teams, then we'll see if Charlie can hack it, espically with him being out for a year and half.

I suspect he'll end up chasing shadows again....sadly.

Poor old Charlie.

In fairness though, he might have made some tackles today but in the league, even in his prime, he couldn't tackle his way out of a paper bag and it's amazing people still think he can.

I can only assume that people use to mistake him for Danny Cullip.

To be fair Kev, I don't think anyone is suggesting that 45 minutes against a team in Ryman Div One South is enough to elevate him to Roy Keane status.

It's a start though and if he makes a decent contribution this season - brilliant

I can live with that.

There is no point in making any opinion on Oatway until at least a month into the season.

I agree Hiney. But I can't see Charlie actually being in the starting eleven, against Crewe and beyond that. He will be a back-up to the first team, if we get injuries during the season.
