Joey Barton Ban

the fact that people are still talking about it shows what an absolute ENTERTAINMENT MAGNET king joey actually is

he;ll go down as one of my all time favourite flair icons when he retires, that's for sure...i was absolutely pissing myself when he got sent off against City, I can't remember the last time a player got the old RED MIST that badly in such a short space of time...absolutely incredible

football would be a lot duller without CHARACTERS like joey- admit it....everyone pottering around, never talking faux-philosophical bullshit on the internet, never randomly going apeshit during matches.....yeah, sounds GREAT

the premier league NEEDS at least one absolute PSYCHOPATH....we've been really missing one since roy keane retired, now joey looks set to pick up the baton

if joey was a film character, i reckon he'd be a kind of "intellectual serial killer"

like, he'd brutally murder people whilst listening to classical music and quoting plato or something

Reckon he would be nailed on for the part of Hannibal Lecter, if they did a new Silence of the Lambs film

It seems he might be, but his actions that afternoon were indisciplined and foolish, but hardly thuggish.

I shan't be losing too much sleep for him, but those cheating, diving and conniving players that blight our modern game today, for me are even worse.

But he is a cheating diving conniving player as well as an indisciplined thug.

I think you're following the wrong sport. In fact I'm not sure "sport" is what you're interested in.

And you. If Barton's not entertaining then why has he loads of followers on that there twitter there?

Bad boys make good copy, he hardly touched those two Argie fannies and they both went down quicker than Jordan at a UFC dinner. If you think what he did at Eastlands was thuggish you must live with Tinky Winky and noonoo.

LOL

The totting up of the offenses in that whole incident to arrive at a 12 match ban seems fair enough to me. The bloke is a tool and a liablity. Imagine having someone like that in the Albion team, getting paid a kings ransom to sit on his arse on the sidelines for a third of the season because he can't control himself.

I'd want him OUT sharpish. QPR should have their lawyers picking through his contract right now to see if there's any way they can just bin him.

It would be more entertaining if the referee just stopped the game and then had 2 minutes of free-for all scrapping with everyone wading in. Soon sort out who really wants to play the hard man and would be great entertainment.

I personally would enjoy watching some of those pampered little twunts get a right good hiding. Tevez would frankly be the first to suffer. People would make a beeline for that dirty little diver and cheater. I would not be surprised if his own team mates joined in after his performance in Munich.

Interesting one would be Drogba. An utter fairy when it comes to falling dramatically to the floor but he's a big lad. Would Barton for instance be happy to go toe to toe with Drogba in a 2 minutes free for all. I suspect he would.

Who would be the champion of the Premier League free for all over the season - perhaps an award that could be presented at the end of the season.

That way the real nasty little scrotes would have the shit kicked out of them - the cheating would dissapate and the crowd would get huge value for money.

Erm, seriously? Another sending off, plus 2 other kicks, shoves and near-headbutts, and 12 is too harsh? If he'd done them in separate matches he'd be looking at 12 games out easy.

Yes seriously. It was all handbags, with the city players making the most of the situation. Yeh Bartons an idiot, but this is still a ludicrious ban for that single event. Yeh, if he had done them in seperate matches then he would have been punished accordingly. Tevez should also have walked that day along with Balotelli.

The problem is inconsistency - again!-

HANDBAGS????.... This attitude is why the footballers behave this way, they are too thick to realise that an element of control is required, Barton is the type of player that should have been thrown out of the game a while back.... he is a fool, so are you if you think that was just handbags..... sheesh!

The ban is correct given the nature of the current laws. If he could have got 3 reds he would have. However I'm in the camp that says that yellows and reds are handed out far too easily these days to the profit of the cheats and divers.

There were victims to Barton's acts though. Not the powder puffs he 'attacked' (fit young men in their 20s should be able to handle themselves) but his team mates and the QPR fans. He let them down in their biggest game of the season. On twitter someone said at the time 'if I was his team mate I'd be chasing him down the tunnel' and I'd agree with that.

Talking of twitter I unfollowed his tiresome feed a while ago. If you're going to be cod-intellectual at least learn to spell.

But he is a cheating diving conniving player as well as an indisciplined thug.

Comparatively players a generation ago were less inclined to roll about and harangue referees to gain an advantage, but they were more inclined to blatantly kick players to do it.

It seems the 'pay off' is for players to 'play act' to make any tackle look dangerous when sometimes there isnt even contact, this for me should be more punishable than Barton antics.

For me, Barton actions were foolish, stupid and unprofessional but at least had a modicum of honesty compared to some of the others.

I accept that my view has some flawed logic to it, but my point remains.
