This may not apply to Jenas, there are only allegations so far and nobody reputable (even the tabloids) has enough to publish the story yet.

But as a general rule of thumb, never send inappropriate texts, even compliments on appearance, to colleagues or acquaintances you aren’t already in a relationship with. Don’t do this when you’re married. Especially don’t do this when you’re a high profile public figure.

And NEVER send intimate pictures to anyone without their absolute consent (in writing, so you have evidence). Think “if this were exposed (forgive the pun), would I be able to defend it in a hypothetical court with evidence”.

This kind of stuff makes up the vast, vast majority of HR cases.


**an aside**

A large number of cases of “unwanted sexual conduct”, such as unsolicited dick pics or sexual messages, come from two things IMHO.

1. Substances. Don’t get drunk and try it on with your fit colleague.

2. Misread signals. Don’t think just because a colleague is friendly at work that they secretly want you. So many men don’t realise that just because a woman is nice to you, that they want to have sex with you.

I know a guy like this, who thinks every woman who so much as smiles at him is interested. He’s been banned from a few places for macking on waitresses. Absolute sleaze. I can guarantee if he got their numbers, it’d be unsolicited dickpicpalooza.
They are more than allegations if he’s been sacked - BBC wouldn’t dare do that without incontrovertible evidence and following due process.

Well, quite, but from a libel perspective as I was partly speculating the reasons for his dismissal, they are allegations.

To get sacked by the BBC you must have done something serious wrong!

No loss though, annoying personality and offers nothing as a pundit.
He was freelance rather than BBC staff it is not such a big deal. you simply don’t give him any more shifts and possibly pay him off for those booked.
As for your second point, I actually thought he was a decent pundit. But I like Chris Sutton so arguably have appalling taste.

Seems harsh to me, for making a pass. Surely more to it than that?
Inappropriate in the workplace, almost sexual assault. It was also witnessed so not ‘behind the filing cabinet’.

Most women have had some sort of harassment in the workplace, and now something is being done about it.

Ah I didn't know, assumed he was a regular.

Don't really listen to it during the week anymore, only ever listen to their commentaries if there's no other option. And I know he's not everyone's cup of tea, but I think Adrian Durham does a great job of matchday coverage.

I agree with Durham ..found him annoying (although not as much as that tit Goldstein) when he did Drivetime…but totally agree with you re his match day coverage..he’s top notch

I’m with you on this old boy, if it was that cut and dried Talk Sport would have dropped him like a stone, not had him presenting one of the most traditionally listened to shows ( when we are all going home, hence drive time) within minutes/hours of his sacking breaking in the news, and it’s not happened overnight with the apparent due process by the Beeb yet TNT had him commentating on the opening game of the EPL🤷‍♂️

Even after he’d gone off air, the TS news bulletins were stilll leading with his soundbite about there being two sides of the story and him consulting solicitors.

Surely if he was that ‘banged too rights’, brief statement and then slink away.
It may well be cut and dried but there's no reason whyTalk Sport will have been made privy to the evidence, which I'm sure the BBC will have seen, hence the action they took.

Because the allegations are based on texts JJ allegedly sent, it's not merely a case of the complainant's word against his. The only element which can be questioned is whether his messages were encouraged, solicited or reciprocated and whether he could prove they were. Presumably he couldn't.

That's why Gary Lineker's pay is published (as a freelance employee), but you wouldn't know how much his company is paid for podcasts.

As Jenas was also working for a "competing" radio station, he's wasn't a full time employee in the normal sense.

It's really complicated these days in that industry. The Graham Norton show is made by his own original production company, but that production company is now owned by ITV.

The BBC buy the programme, but nobody knows what So Productions pay Graham Norton.

I do understand that. But still an employee for his football work, in employment and tax law. Not doing a Burt ???.
