Good point well made. The fact is that Clarkson is a damn sight less offensive than your average comedian anyway. If all the people who were insulted by comedians took offence then there'd be no room for the news.

It wouldn't be so bad calling him just an idiot, but to add one eyed into that statement makes it pesonal.
I have not been offended by Carol Thatcher or Jeremy Clarkson this week.
Clarkson is tying in the insult of being an idiot and only having one eye with being Scottish otherwise why mention Browns nationality. Its like calling someone a black bastard....... it means you are looking down at them and that is why Clarkson made that reference.
Neither of them should be banned though but if he had said one eyed, Pakistani idiot he would be finished at the beeb.
Double standards by them I think.
I hate Clarkson and also Hammond and May be proxy. Though now I hate May (aka Captain Go f*** Yourself) in his own right after that f***ing show he's doing nwith Oz 'wanker' Clark where they get to booze all the way around the country. The thing that annoys me about this is that people would find anything Alrkson says as worthy of getting annoyed about. If there's a bigger tosser in the public limelight then I'm yet to see them, and this is just another example of him acting like a prick and some morons thinking he's some sort of comic and broadcasting genius. "one eyed Scottish idiot" is the sort of thing you'd expect to hear a drunkard down the pub saying - why does anyone think this waste of a human being is worth listening to?

This is just another example of the Big Brother is watching / censorship society we are becoming.
There is nothing wrong with the comments made by Clarkson, and why have we now got "news stories" which are nothing more than individuals expressing their own views on things, surely one of the key principles of civilisation is free thinking, and everyone entitled to have their own views, even if no one else agrees with them.
A good example of this is the recent story of Prince Charles friend, who they called Sooty, people decided that this was outragous as he may get offended, until the person in question said he likes being called that.
These so called do gooders are doing far more damage to society that they do good, it's now a case of people deciding that something may offend without consulting the so called victims (eg Banning christmas displays by some councils)
For example, is calling someone Scottish offensive, or by claiming someone may get offended by the use of that word actually offending those from Scotland by claiming that nationals from that country should be offended for being described as from that country, it certainly isn't racism.
Surely its the qualifying word with it that cause the offense, In the case of Gordon Brown / Clarkson, its just calling him an idiot.

Ron Atkinson, Rodney Marsh, Jade Goody, Russell Brand, Jonathan Ross, Carol Thatcher, Jeremy Clarkson. All gone, or on the verge. Not everybody's cup of tea but not deemed PC.
Curiously, gay IS acceptable with the PC crowd, so Norton, Winton and Clary can 'double entendre' to their hearts content with their crude camp references.
