Thanks. Can't do any worse than the current lot I guess. Not sure we need another John Terry though.

He looks a fantastic prospect, he's either 18 or 19 I think! Amazingly, he's a very good footballer. Considering he plays for Blackburn! But he's playing every game for them, which is a massive help to him. There's been talk about him going to Arsenal either in january, or in the summer. If they intend to play him, then good for him. But I'd rather be at Blackburn at this stage I think, he's working for a manager who should be good at developing his talent and he's playing every game, what more could you want.

I also think Henderson looks a fantastic prospect. He's the heartbeat of the Sunderland team, and though he doesn't score many goals (not sure he's ever scored, actually), he looks like being a Frank Lampard type player. The goals will come with time, like they did with Frank. The future looks good in my opinion, we've got a top quality goalkeeper now. If we could just play Rooney alone and play a fluid 5 man midfield, with Adam Johnson and Theo Walcott in the wide positions, we could potentially catch up with Spain, et al.

funny, people often say we should pick unfashionable players or those from Championship if the the obvious first 11 arent interested... then when we do, its critisied.

if this is the next generation, they need to play sometime.

At 28 Boothroyd is hardly the next generation.

I like the look of the defence without John Terry. The midfield looks pretty strong too, it's just the strikers that worry me. We dont have anyone. Rooney was our hope, but he just seems to be out of form and out of love with football.

I am glad Capello is trying new things, but it just seems we have nothing to offer at the moment.

The last new strikers he has picked before today were not young either. Davies and Zamora are good, but they arent really part of the future of the national team surely?

Young English strikers in the Premier League? Andy Carroll. Anyone else? I can't think of any, apart from Danny Welbeck who (Apart from scoring today) has looked absolutely hopeless for Sunderland. Simon Cox is starting to play for West Brom, so maybe he's being thought about, but he's not scored in the Premier League.

Exactly Ninja. There is a distinct lack of English strikers and I would rather we had the option of Bothroyd who is banging them in than someone who is not playing regularly/well.

It is a pretty poor list of strikers when it comes down to it. Why is that?

Even our 'best', although currently injured, has been off his game for England for an eternity.

Capello has tried to pick different and young players but got it all wrong.

Smalling - Why? Just why? Phil Jones is clearly the better player wit better potential and in form. Ridiculous decision.

Carlton Cole - 1 goal this season. Says it all, he is not anywhere near international standard while Kevin Davies is in form and plays that target man role far far better.

Marc Albrighton - What does this lad have to do to get in the squad. Probably Villa's best performer this season and seeing as we're picking young talent, he is the cream of that crop at the moment. A blatant mistake in not picking him.

Micah Richards - Here, Capello has actually made the right call. Johnson is absolute shite and there is no one else out there. Richards should be our number full back. its upto him to prove.

Jordan Henderson - I'm so glad he was picked. Outstanding this season.

Capello has again failed to pick the right players and even though he's picked a couple of new ones, i can also certainly say the first 11 will be senior players who consistently under-perform in a England shirt. The young lads/uncapped players will maybe get 10-20mins to show their worth which is utterly pointless. I fear for our national team these days with our squad selection i really do.

Have I missed something? Is Michael Owen injured?

Whether or not this is the worst England team since the one under Graham Taylor is debatable, but there are players getting capped now that wouldn't have looked out of place alongside Carlton Palmer, Andy Sinton and Geoff Thomas.

And the worst thing of all? Gareth Bale being Welsh.

I mean the best left-sided attacking player produced in the UK in a generation and, like Giggs, he's Welsh. Are they doing it to piss us off?!

The introduction of these new players was always going to be then next evolvment in Englands brave new area. It's been well managed by Capello, he could have thrown them straight in after the World Cup and they could have been slaughtered but after an encouraging start to our Euro qualifying campaign it's a good opportunity to blood some of these youngsters.

Really looking forward to the game on Wednesday in front of a sold-out Wembley audience.

Ok Howdy folks - First post so take it easy ... but Downing (Villa) and even Etherington (Stoke) are decent Prem left wingers who are english and I'd also say Smalling is a huge risk as 4th choice at United to be pulling an England shirt on ...
