I thought he was comfortably our best player. Very impressive.

I'm hoping because he doesn't do anything particularly flashy no one will be willing to pay the 47 bazillion Tony will probably be charging for him.
I think it will be a lot like Gross. Teams will be very aware of him but not entirely convinced to pay the money we’d want. I wonder how keen he’d be to leave. He seems Albion though and through.

Posted in the other (old) Hinsh thread but:

Another brilliant performance in front of the New England manager.

20 starts for Brighton? By the time we lose him he’ll have 20 England caps. Plays football like somebody a decade older than he is.

If we’d signed him for £5m from the Slovakian second division every hack football writer would be droning on about how he’s worth £80m and we’ve done it again.

We’re only club in the country where a local lad whose dad used to play for the club breaking in to the first team means they get less media hype. :lolol:

It’s a very easy mistake to make. Only the keenest opposing supporters will ever notice him. There’s very few examples of players who are so remarkable yes so utterly unremarkable.
I always felt like this about Paul Scholes.
You hardly noticed him, but he never put a foot wrong and all the people who work in football called him world class.

Great example. Now it’s pretty much the thing to name him as one of the greats but often during his career he was massively underrated by many.

I found it fairly astonishing that ITV weren’t raving about his performance, especially as a young Englishman. Phenomenal for his age and consistent too but largely goes under the radar. Quite happy about that.
Well I thought differently. They gave him a fair amount of praise, McCoist was singling out his quality and maturity

But made a guy who came off the bench for a fraction of the game Player of the Match. I agree they were conplimentary. If he was a 19 year old englishman playing to his standard for Liverpool, Manchester City, Arsenal, Villa - or even Newcastle - they’d talk about little else. Good for us that they don’t.
