How do you know? It's very clear you haven't been. The prices are very reasonable.

And yes, I do have very, very high standards.

You're probably someone who sees McDonalds as the gold standard of dining.

I'd sooner spend my cash on a decent meal than some poncy Jamie Oliver resturant:lol:

Al Duomos by the entrance to the Royal Pavilion - the original and still the best IMHO

I've not been there myself - but I've heard good reports. I went to Leonardo (Hoveside) about a month ago, & had the set menu (about 9 quid). Really enjoyed it & will definitely go again.

Good luck with making your choice Frutos: it sounds like there's bleedin' loads of decent ones to choose from! Which is nice.

Si Signore in Sydney Street by a country mile. Bring your own wine, and only cash accepted. Superb food, pleasant service, gratuities entirely at your discretion.

Anything else is a distant second, except for Al Fresco, but while their pizzas absolutely piss on everyone else's by an embarrassing margin, they are bloody expensive - £12 for a pizza.

Oh, and quick word about Donatello - I would normally say that their stuff is mediocre, but they did do a great job with their food for the Guy Butters night. Knowing that they can serve good food, and often missing out on doing so is what makes it all the more disappointing at times.

Leonardo in Hove. I know it isn't in central Brighton but is worth a short taxi ride. Very good, genuine Italian restaurant, and you can eat cheaply too.

Casalingo in Preston St. I know Preston St has a bad rep but this place is a gem. Quite rustic in appearance but you will not be disappointed with the food.

My you have very high standards:lolol:, The portions in restaurants like that are woeful, and considering prices are extraordinarily high its a total rip.

The lady gives us an opinion on a restaurant that most of us haven't been to, and you follow it up by putting her down and telling us what it's really like despite you having never been there? Do you have any idea how that makes you look?
