Throw the book at him.
They did say this but I have no idea why.
Normally you can drop as far back as you like as long as you are in line with the hole and no closer.
Furyk did exactly this by moving his ball back further (about 10 yards) to get a flatter lie.
No idea what rule Woods could have broken.
This.He has to be disqualified. If they let him off, it makes a mockery of the game and rules. But then he is world no. 1 and not a 14 year old......
I'm not sure where I stand on this one. If it was as simple dropping his ball behind where the original ball was then I would have thought that the USPGA would have resolved this by now. No announcement until around 3:00pm means that they must seriously be considering some sort of penalty.
This...I think they are blowing it out of proportion. Good for viewing figures and interest...I think the line seems to be an issue as the ball went in the water off the flag...But that is not the line it crossed the hazard..I suppose all will be sorted one way or another pretty soon.
Any sort of penalty, would mean disqualificaton, because he has signed for a wrong score
Really, why's that have they got a different rule book then. I think you will find Billy Foster said he would have done the same thing if he had been on Tiger's bag.

2 shot penalty apparently
Only question is whether the tournament organisers will have the balls to do it.
The proof is in the pudding.
Any other player in the tournement would have been disqualified.... But Tiger, he's the biggest money maker in the game, we'll make up a new rule and give him two strokes
Absolutely stinks
