I bet Southampton and even Reading are saying the same about their grounds now they are in the premiership.Teams like Stoke and West Brom could do with bigger grounds as well.

Stoke is not a large catchment area, compared to Sussex, and Stoke haven't even filled in the corners which would be cheap.

Reading (until they were relegated from the PL) had agreed plans to add a small second tier the stand opposite the main stand, to mirror the main stand; taking it to 30,000+.

The Albion had to go for a maximum of 22,500 at the original planning, because they had a whole raft of enemies, some of which were not made known ... fighting the whole concept of a stadium @ Falmer.
Once the foot was in the door, it became obvious with the high empty walls everywhere but the WS; that the Albion had cleverly and quietly set it up nicely for the expansion we now know as upping to 30,750.

To take it further one day, the east stand arch would have to completely taken away, and no doubt the train station would have to be completely upgraded. That would seem many years away.

So our attendances would be 11th but not far off three "big" clubs. No need for the foreseeable to extend any further

If / when the Albion go up then a fixture list of Arsenal, Spurs, Chelsea, Man U, Man City, Newcastle, Liverpool and the like then 30,000, whilst enough for the second tier, will not in my view be enough. After all, I remember Arsenal bringing 10,000 to the Goldstone and then there is the casual Albion fan and rest of Sussex who would fancy a big game. So for me 30,000 is not enough for the top flight. Will have to agree to differ tho' as I'm in the minority of 1 so far!

We never got 30,000 in our four years in the top flight before.

Not the real one
We won't sell out apart from 3 or 4 games this season. Nearly everyone that wants to go has a Season ticket and the other spare matchday seats are too expensive and there's not enough demand. In the Prem, 30k would be enough.

I think people over estimate the jump in attendances that a promotion would cause.

For the first couple of seasons yes, the masses would come for top flight football, but after a couple of seasons once the novelty wears off and people realise we have nothing to play for year after year, and get bored of watching us get tonked every week by utd and city I think it would level out in the high 20,000s.

The club have yet to explain how the extra supporters are going to get to the stadium this year. Not everyone lives within walking distance.

I live 30 miles away. You can put up road blocks, scrap all buses, ban cycling and I'll still be there for my 14:30 pint.

People also forget that with Prem football the away gate also increases considerably.

Jees - FFS get a grip! You can tell the old loyal season ticket holders from the new jump on the bandwagon supporters. We've spent the last fifteen years fighting to get a new stadium & £100m later some of you now want to virtually double capacity from last season . Talk about spoilt & delusional.

I would rather be like Spurs who always sell out and have massive demand for tickets, than the likes of Sunderland or Boro who built way to big and never sell out even when they are in the Prem and the 'big' clubs visit.
