While he became a complete wastrel and malign social media presence I think Leon Knight qualifies as a legend. He played for us when we were shit, scored a load of goals including some belting headers despite being a midget to get us to the playoffs and took The penalty in the final.Interesting thoughts about the legend concept but the bolded part... doesn't that get a bit weird? I think, Zamora and Ward aside, Leon Knight might be the old ex-Albion name I've read the most often since joining here... far more than say Kerry Mayo. Does that make Leon Knight a legend?
All downhill from there but it's churlish to disavow the great joy he brought in a time of drudgery. Also I feel that the fact he only had the one good season in his entire career and that we got it from him is worth some bonus points.
Anyhow to the original post, yes Solly is a legend. It's not about being a great player so much as being woven into the clubs history. Dunk and Solly are consistent threads in the story of our Blooming. Knight is the most colourful weft of the prior withdean years.
