Up the Albion!
Taking my lad to his first Palace game tomorrow.
He know's the history, he's fully briefed.

I don't agree with that. The Palace and Brighton rivalry, like most rivalry really, is nonsensical. The only reason folk have it in many cases is because they inherited it. 20 odd thousand Albion fans have not come to an independent conclusion that Palace are an enemy. Especially given that this is not a life threatening dispute but twenty two, mostly mercenaries, kicking a bag of air around a patch of grass. And an apparent dispute between two ex-pros is no ground to start a 50 year campaign of hatred.
But it's fun, it's theatre, and in that sense I buy into it. But nothing more than that. I don't like losing to Palace and I don't like seeing them above us. But in the end it really doesn't matter. The need for a rival is more based in personal validation rather than genuine a genuine gripe. In real terms it's insecurity and need. But, as I said, in footballing terms and given a benign context it's fun. I shall enjoy the pantomime tomorrow and may be a bit disappointed more than usual if we lose. But not much.

Has it really got to this. As well as shit burgers they might as well serve prawn sandwiches at the Amex.I don't agree with that. I do like a prawn sandwich, but with the ASDA offer I'll eat before I leave. I dread to think what the AMEX charge.Has it really got to this. As well as shit burgers they might as well serve prawn sandwiches at the Amex.
Seriously, anyone not going because its "a disruption to Sunday lunch" should surrender their season ticket immediately, and go and watch Lewes Women instead.i'm surprised its not more. Hassle of trains, add Sunday, Add in two pm ko, add in delays inevitable, add in its Palace and not everyone wants a punch up, add in disruption to Sunday lunch, its near Xmas, money for some will be tight, its on TV, we clearly have fair weather fans and some will also be p1ssed off with the way we give games away to poor sides, im sure though the majority of those unsold will get sold, there's still time. Also add in for West Hamlet or Rottenham Coldspurs etc we will have locals that get in the home areas but doubtful any Palace live locally so that will keep a few hundred down in the normal attendance
We get it, you don't like to immerse yourself in the game. Fine, each to their own.I do like a prawn sandwich, but with the ASDA offer I'll eat before I leave. I dread to think what the AMEX charge.
I want to invite you to consider your own feelings and why they are so important to you as part of your support. A person's love for their own club is not validated by their hatred for another. Neither is it compulsory. What Crystal Palace do is irrelevant. What their supporters say about us is irrelevant.
The biggest question, is why does anyone care ? If they were somehow trying to sabotage us I would get it. But again, it goes back to the need to be validated and that is either done through the love or hate. This is hardly Platoism, but spending time disliking or hating a football club for no apparent reason is so dreary and draining. But a good old boo at our old ugly sister tomorrow, I'm up for that.
I actually want to go but I've gotta other plansAll things being equal, ie setting aside "awkward" kick-off times / holiday season etc, is Palace the least attractive / least in-demand game of the season?
I ask having checked the ticketing site and, only adding up very roughly, there are in excess of 1,500 tickets available to buy on the ticket exchange.
Is the supposed hassle factor just so great that a load of people just can't be arsed?

Still not ready for that yet buddy. And certainly not with me back at the moment. So do let out a good boo for meYou going tomorrow?
Not sure we need to be that unkind to send anyone to watch Lewes women. I suspect the biggest turn off is train travel and families not wanting to bump into the Palace NigelsSeriously, anyone not going because its "a disruption to Sunday lunch" should surrender their season ticket immediately, and go and watch Lewes Women instead.
Please do carry-on considering your own feelings and leave the rest of us to enjoy a plain and simple rivalry which intensifies the whole football going experience...I do like a prawn sandwich, but with the ASDA offer I'll eat before I leave. I dread to think what the AMEX charge.

Oh, I enjoy it too. My response was more geared towards the suggestion that someone who doesn't take it all seriously, or doesn't care at all, is not towing the line. Please do carry-on considering your own feelings and leave the rest of us to enjoy a plain and simple rivalry which intensifies the whole football going experience...
This is exactly why the atmosphere at the Amex is average at best. Too many wet blanket fans who may offer a polite hand clap every now and then. For those of us who appreciate where we’ve come from it’s so disappointing that the fervent fans have been overshadowed by apathetic liberal types. I bet you get a half and half scarf tomorrow. Pond life!I do like a prawn sandwich, but with the ASDA offer I'll eat before I leave. I dread to think what the AMEX charge.
