I expect this has been said already. But the proportion of our fans that see this as the absolute must not miss biggest game of the season, that will create an intimidating atmosphere in the ground and in the town before the game is a lot smaller than it is at most comparable clubs. It’s exactly the same reason why there are so many threads about our home atmosphere. Palace fans will claim it is because so many Brighton fans are people who are second-teamers, which is partly true, but mainly it’s just the demographic of the area, I think.

If the vast majority of our fans came from Brighton it might be different, but they don’t. A large proportion of them come from sleepy Sussex towns and villages. That’s why our fan base is a bit flakey.

That’s not meant to be a dig or a criticism, it’s just the way it is. It’s actually the same for Palace as well, as much as they would argue it. Their home atmosphere is basically 200 teenagers in black hoodies and the rest of the ground is a load of accountants from Reigate.
Excuse me…..I am a retired engineer from Forest row 😁

If you say you hate a club more than Palace,, it doesn't mean you're wanting a fake rivalry with them. It's just that you hate them.

I don't particularly like several clubs and most of them we have zero rivalry with. I really dislike Portsmouth but 80% of their fans barely view us a rival any more than they do Plymouth or Millwall.
Indeed. I can’t bear Chelsea as a football club. They represent everything that is wrong with the game and their fans are generally complete twats. Doesn’t mean I want a rivalry with them. I’d like them to go bust. Which is not the case with Palace, I ‘hate’ them as our rivals and want us to play and beat them. But apart from the black hoodie brigade, their fans are fairly similar to us really.

How are Palace able to sell on tickets? Are they paper or e-ticket I wonder? Bearing in mind we are ID checked before going into Selhurst ...

Whilst this is true we used to supply a healthy amount of nutters from towns along the coast who used to enjoy a tear up pre match 🤣

I'm now starting to get into the Xmas spirit with a circus full of clowns coming to town and a bit of pantomime

We have a contractor at work who pops in every few years to do bits and bobs. He is a Palace fan. We have some bantz.

He was in this week.

We both agreed that ‘form’ has little to do with these fixtures.

I like the guy, but we’ve started communicating on WhatsApp. I’m going to have to delete that App if we lose!

I hate Portsmouth more than I hate Palace. But I hate the week before the Palace game more than any other. Not because of their pathetic clown supporters that turn up at the Amex but nervous anticipation of losing. I was at the 5 penalties, the 5-0 and the playoff. I'm not forgetting.
