Although I think it was wrong these "fans" did what they did before kick off, to come out in public and call them idiots is a bit on the wrong side for me.

Not another stick to beat Adams with in my opinion, but still a pretty foolish thing to do

Andy Naylor didn't do Micky any favours by quoting that.

But there is an element of bear-baiting about Micky's situation now which is pretty unedifying. Seems to me there's muppets winding the manager up just for the sake of it, a sort of alternative pre-match entertainment to watching Gully's Girls. Fair enough to have a pop at the end of the game, or even during the game, depending on the performance. But not before the game has even started.

Shows Micky really is in denial as to how bad it's got? Can he really not see that this season has been a complete DISASTER in almost every way imaginable?

It's been a disaster in the league, but on the Falmer front it has been very positive, we've had some half decent cup matches, and are 90 minutes from seeing the Albion play at the new Wembley for the first time.

So I wouldn't say complete disaster in every way imaginable, we're not in the relegation zone.........yet.

Surely we ALL want the team to win, and for everyone to do their utmost to achieve that objective? If someone gave me grief before I did a job then it wouldn't make me work harder, or necessarily better.

It IS counterproductive, but Micky should be professional and suck it up, accept that fans do have about 100,000 reasons to be ticked off at the moment. The fact he calls them idiots makes me worry that he really is in denial.

i was more annoyed that there were fans who sat quite for the entire game and then as soon as the half time whistle went they booed. for god sake support the team all the way through and if you are ever going to boo do it after the game as you need to lift the team at half time rather than make them unconfident.

I think Adams has a point. There were some right twats about on Tuesday night - a lot of whom weren't there at any/many games this season. A bloke sat almost directly in front of me shouted abuse at Adams as he was on his way to the dugout before the game - how's this meant to encourage your team for a cup game? There were several others who saw fit to yell abuse at any of our subs as they warmed up, even in the first half. Very little applause or acknowledgement of the few decent things we did do - they just went along with the predetermined intent of slagging the team off. What's the point of that? OK, make your views known during or after a shit performance, but before we've kicked off? Sorry, but it would be better for all of us if these wankers kept the tenner in their pocket and stayed at home.

But why if ridiculous abuse is being hurled at him, then I don't see why he cannot respond. It's similar to the Richards incident, the whole team were playing crap and fans chose to shout abuse at Richards, and out of frustration he spoke back to defend himself, again I see nothing wrong with this.

If people on here don't liken the Albion to a normal job environment, these people the 'fans' are hurling abuse at are people too and there becomes a time when a line is crossed and indeed it was and I think this justifies Adams statement. What makes the fans so special that nothing can be said back to them? And using the 'we pay the wages' argument is crap, paying for something doesn't give people the right to talk to people however they want.

Because, although I would probably feel like doing the same thing in his shoes, it's just not professional.

There really isn't much wrong with that. This is a fans forum, and an outlet for opinions. Gobbing off to him at the ground is very very different though, and really I think people should realise this.

As has been said, he is unprofessional to have called such people "idiots" in the Argus. He's right of course, but it does nothing but more harm to himself and the players.

He hasn't made things harder for himself nor proved he's an easy target, as people would be on his back whatever he does, he's just proved that he won't take that kind of abuse from fans, and so he shouldn't. So if he'd remained professional, fans wouldn't of praised him for it, nor would they have thought any better of him, therefore call these people for what they are. 'Paying his wages' or not, doesn't give anybody the right to talk to people the way some Albion fans have done.

As well as being professional, it comes down to the type of personality. Many people are praising John Baine for his speech on the radio and the point I mostly picked up on from that was wanting the old Mikey back, well that works both ways.
