Reading the full article, reading the full quote, he isn't calling the fans idiots, he is calling a small group of people who called for his head idiots. Which is about fair when they're doing it before the game.

I will argue the fans' right to boo and criticise the team when they're not performing, but what I like about the Albion is that most of the fans, even in poor runs, will get behind the team before every game, and wait for them to scre wup before getting on their case.

Those people who passed judgement before the game, are idiots.

I'm not saying this game was the turning point. I'm not saying they are wrong to want him to go based on the rest of the season so far, but on match day, at least until the game has settled down and we can judge what sort of performance we're about to get, the fans should be behind the team.

Each game could be the new page, and we should treat it as such until the events on the pitch show otherwise.

Everytime i've gone to Withdean in the last couple of years i'm reminded no matter how bad the team plays, no matter how crap the manager, the fans are without doubt a bunch of f***ing idiots
