Could always be renamed 'the M23 smart motorway derby.'
With the emphasis on the smart, being in Sussex!

But aren't most of the roadworks turning the M23 into a smart motorway currently in Surrey?

But with sponsorship could be the Smartie Derby :nono:

People actually get uptight about it? That's funny in itself.

Wasn't there a thread on this recently? ???

As has been discussed ad infinitum, this is a made up term coined by lazy journalist, the likes of whom call Lulu "Lulu, the 'Shout' singer"....:lolol:

Without wishing to derail this thread (oh, alright, let's not be disingenuously provocative...) is it just the Metro that does this? I can think of several real and made up examples of this that put my teeth on edge:

Katy, the 'I Kissed a girl' star, Perry
David 'gender bender' Bowie
Tom, the 'Delilah' belter, Jones
Michael 'donkeyjacket' Foot
Paul, the 'bottle top banner' Barber
Viv 'spend spend spend' Nichols
Pri the 'Purple rain' star nce

When in fact it's actually Lulu the Boom Bang-a-Bang singer.

I stand corrected.

And I sometimes get her mixed up with Sandy 'the Puppet on a String' singer Shaw

The funny thing is, last week while watching a stream of the Burnley game 6 of us 5 Palace and 1 Fulham fan were talking about this and the Two youngest in their 20 s didn’t really care too much ,3 older fans in their 50s had Millwall as there rhate team and the Fulham fan couldn’t get his head round the rivalry or why we should care !

Although we love to beat you the hatred is much more a Brighton thing.... mind you we all live in Sussex.

To me, if a derby has to have a name, it should be something both have in common the M23 is not a part of Brighton or Croydon. It would be like calling a Brighton/Crawley derby 'The Pease Pottage Derby'.
