I don't have a problem with M23 Derby - it is the main road on which you travel to reach each of the grounds after all.

The only M23 Derby would be between Crawley and Chipstead.

Seeing as that's where the motorway starts and finishes.

A23 is much better , I would say.

The dull part of the south coast
As the common transport link between both grounds is Southern Rail, and as the service seems to be in constant upheaval, I suggest it should be called The Delay Repay Derby. :drink:

Or . . . as Palace fans seem to have an affinity for caravans, and Brighton have a large homeless number living in tents perhaps, and in incredibly bad taste, it should be named The Caravan and Camping Derby.

I shall now retire to my bedchamber.

It's a rivalry, without the geographical proximity to warrant terming it a derby.
Innit 😄

The M23 does not go as far south as Brighton and it doesn't go as far north as Croydon, so definitely not the M23 derby. If you must, then the A23 derby, as that road joins both towns.

Neither here nor there
The "M23 derby" is just a quick, shorthand kind way for journalists on Sky etc to make sense of the rivalry to viewers who know nothing about the background to the rivalry, and care even less.

Nobody who supports Palace or Brighton refers to it as such, and I doubt they ever will.

Doesn't bother me in the least though.

I don't like travelling East on the A27 on a matchday. For that reason I am going to stick with:

"The A22, A275 (Get stuck at Cooksbridge crossing), A27 Derby"

I think you'll agree it is a snappier name.
