Is it true

I was talking to a friend of ours, my wife and I, and the person told me that 3 of the players who started last night were pissed in a hotel bar in Brighton at 1.30am Sunday night/Monday morning some 36 hours before the biggest game of our season. If it is true and I have no reason to suspect otherwise, I think that it is dsgraceful and perhaps accounted for the poor display by some of the players last night.

I don't know, but we can have a jolly good witch hunt. Shall we use the usual suspects or throw some new names in? Who wants to start?

Seeing as how Tony Adams, Paul Merson, Georgie Best, Gazza and Jimmy Greaves played the best football of their lives whilst mostly completely caned I think it should be mandatory for them to get leathered immediately prior to kick off.

Little Coxy looks like he would be a right terror all voddied up.

My friend works in the hotel and told me the names but I will not post them on here.

The names or who they are is not the major problem, the major problem is that any of the players should be allowed or wish to do such a thing before such an important game is the problem.

This shows very poor managment.

I saw Lynch at the Odeon a couple of weeks ago on a Sunday and he wasn't even there for the early showing, rather one roughly around 4pm. Must have got out about 6.30pm and from that I can only deduce he got to bed about 8pm. I for one am sickened that he should be getting to bed so late only 6 days before a game.

I suppose this was the friend who fed you that other nugget of information a few years back that proved to be wildly wrong ?

Does it? does your boss have the right to monitor what you do and where you go when you are not officially "at work?"

Is it true?

How the hell should I know? But if you forced me to guess... on the balance of probabilities, there is probably some slight grain of truth and a load of bullshit too.

No that was a club director this is a hotel employee, but we will drop all the previous references.

OK just checking, does a hotel employee have a right to shop players ?

Perhaps you should "ask the club" whether the players should be tagged so Wilkins knows where they are.

I am sure that it is in the players contracts that they are not permitted in licensed premises prior to a game, I thought that it was 72 hours as it used to be,but on another thread Race says she thought it was 48 hours.

IF TRUE, isn't poor management as I understand there are strict rules regarding them entering a club/pub before a game.

More like bad self management.

True but it shows a bad attitude to the forthcoming game.

It must also be added that 'pissed' is an opinion as many would appreciate when they have stopped off for 1 or 2 drinks on the way home from work to be told when they get home they stink of beer and are pissed.

No idea if it's true or not but I do know the players are not allowed to be on licensed premises for the 48 hours prior to a game.

If this story is true rather than bullshit stirring then why not pass it on to the club with the names of the players you claim were there.

In my (professional) opinion if it is true the players would be guilty of gross misconduct.
