Well that was a pretty inevitable outcome.

GOSBTS is deeply rooted not only in our clubs history, but also in the memories of each and every one of us. It would be sacrilege not to hear it over the tannoy (sorry, I mean state-of-the-art PA system) before every game at the AMEX.

HOWEVER...

There's no reason why we can't have a combination of a few anthems at different stages of the build up... although Saturday was a bit rubbish, I do think they're probably trying something a bit different and I'm sure they will be practicing like mad to get it right for Spurs and Donny.

There's no reason why we can't play "Praise You" or "Right Here, Right Now" before the game, perhaps after the warm up when the players are preparing to come out... lots of raucous, geeing up of the fans from the pa announcer, the team line ups on the big screen, with "Right Here, Right Now" playing in the background...

Then as the players start to make their way down the tunnel "AND NOW, welcome onto the pitch, Brighton and Hove Albionnnnn" GOSBTS starts to play - as it has done since many of us can remember.

Keep the heritage but make the build up special with some modern anthems to really get that atmosphere booming!

ALSO, whilst we're on the subject - most clubs also have a song at the end when everyone is leaving... Praise You would be a perfect anthem for the end... as would "The Boys in the Old Brighton Blue"

Oh, and why not keep Palace in the ground for half an hour like they did to us at Selhurst, but play "Goldstone Rap" on continuous loop!!

It s a difficult one, if GOSBTS sounded as shit and tinny as it did at the withdean id have to say, oh dear but with a great PA system it should sound a whole lot better, if a little dated. In reality right here, right now would fit the new stadium really well but i think its tough to lose the traditional anthem.

I voted for a change but not as in doing away with GOSBTS I'd just like to see the lyrics updated, Maybe lyrics that include things to do with the Albion as well as maintaining the GOSBTS chorus. Who knows it might encourage more fans to learn the words and sing along to it.

Right Here Right Now - modern anthem - has a lot of resonance from its use over the years in connection with the club, Skint/Fatboy connection, title etc - as does Praise You

Really? I feel that they are both pop tunes by a guy who supports the Albion. They do not hold any resonance whatsoever for me. Did they paint the walls at Falmer with Sandtex paints for the resonance, or are all conferencing flip charts and white boards going to be supplied by Nobo for because they were once associated with the club?

BUT I would be supportive of a new recording of GOSBTS if it sounds shit/tinny over new PA.

This however, is a great idea. We have been using the same recording for a long long time now. The new recording would have to be exactly the same version but just re recorded using modern techniques.

I am merely putting forward as a discussion item whether now is the right time, for one of our modern day supporters, with a musical bent (of which I am sure there are many) to come up with something a little more, shall we say, modern.
No thank you.

Yeah I think that could work. As long as we don't play music when we score (all too ice hockey), I quite like the novel approach of cheering when we score.

In reality right here, right now would fit the new stadium really well
It would fit nicely for a few months, because it's our new ground. It then wouldn't make much sence at all.

There is no debate here, we all agree, it's SBTS. Now for the real question:
How do we get people to sing it at the right pace? Evening classes?

Please before you go any further, don't shoot the messenger!

I understand that with the clubs new identity discussed on a previous thread, that some supporters feel the need to acknowledge the past and our heritage, but at the same time reflect that we are a club on the up, with a new stadium, a new badge and a new belief.

As somebody who has heard GOSBTS a thousand times or more, I am not opposed to its continuation. I am merely putting forward as a discussion item whether now is the right time, for one of our modern day supporters, with a musical bent (of which I am sure there are many) to come up with something a little more, shall we say, modern.

I repeat this is purely a discussion item, but I do understand the comment of "if ever, why not now?" that was put to be my someone on Saturday.

Discuss....

Read it twice.......................... checked the date and it is not April 1st.................................................. so NO NO and thrice NO

I noted with a smile that the white board in the portacabins for season ticket presentations were Nobo ones.

GOSBTS definitely sounded tinny and not particularly rousing at Withdean. But that's because it was Withdean. I can still just about remember how it sounded at the Goldstone - which was loud, uplifting and always sent tingles down my spine. We've been a long time away people

Liverpool have' your never walk alone' sung before K.O.
Could you imagine someone suggesting they change it. NO!!!.

I agree with what a lot have said on here, about singing it before kick off. Get the words on the screen and SBTS vibrating round the Amex.
