Please before you go any further, don't shoot the messenger!

I understand that with the clubs new identity discussed on a previous thread, that some supporters feel the need to acknowledge the past and our heritage, but at the same time reflect that we are a club on the up, with a new stadium, a new badge and a new belief.

As somebody who has heard GOSBTS a thousand times or more, I am not opposed to its continuation. I am merely putting forward as a discussion item whether now is the right time, for one of our modern day supporters, with a musical bent (of which I am sure there are many) to come up with something a little more, shall we say, modern.

I repeat this is purely a discussion item, but I do understand the comment of "if ever, why not now?" that was put to be my someone on Saturday.

Discuss....

Personally, I love GOSBTS. Its sets my spine tingling before kicking every time. I still hate the horror of the Ska version mind you...

I think we've changed enough about our club personally. The new badge, kit, stadium etc are magnificent. Watching our lads marching out to GOSBTS will make my day on August 6th.

I have thought about this, Right here , right now by Fatboy being one that I remember contimplating but to be honest Sussex by the sea is still great, personaly I would like us to stick to tradition, not many clubs are lucky enough to have a genuine Anthem in the true sense of the word Sussex does so lets use it

I love GOSBTS but the problem is that we also draw support from South Kent (Tunbridge Wells area) don't we?

Mind you, Tunbridge Wells should be part of Sussex anyway, as far as I'm concerned.

FFS, people start these threads every couple of months. D'you think maybe we should start playing in red shirts, white shorts, maybe something more trendy than blue and white?

GOSBTS IS as much a part of the club as the name "Albion", and older than the name "Seagulls". If it was ever changed (like that horrendous attempt in the very early 80s), it wouldn't feel like my club anymore. I would be more than horrified.

Poll added. I am fairly confident of the result!

Really stupid question. You spent virtually all your post pleading with people not to abuse you, surely this would make you realise that you are being a complete din by even suggesting this nonsense.

So put me in the 'no f***ing way should we ditch GOSBTS' camp. In fact put me in the I'll be singing it with all the words (well first two verses) at every oppurtunity camp.

Doesn't really matter though, the club is in Sussex. I doubt the Liverpool fans across the country are bothered about them being 'the pride of merseyside' for example.

(And yes, I know Brighton and Hove isn't technically in Sussex and all that. But it basically is)

I would prefer them to walk out to Right here, right now.

Nothing against GOSBTS, except when sung by the crowd. Which sounds awful these days.

Not this, ever. Norman Cook may be a Brighton fan but what relevance does this tune really have to the Albion? The answer is none by the way.

The badge is new? I could have sworn we had something similar a few years ago.

Dropping GOSBTS is not a discussion point. In fact anyone who thinks changing GOSBTS is a good idea is actually nothing more that a football fan emotionally undecided on what club they should actually support.

Some things shouldn't change because that's how you create a tradition and tradition is identity..........................its that simple.

If you dont understand this then you will never know what it is truly like to support a football club..........................and that's tragic.

This is EXACTLY how I feel about it. Clubs are built on tradition, history and generations of support. i never understand why clubs fail to understand this...

To this day I feel uncomfortable about the term Seagulls, it's only saving grace is that it is better than the Dolphin's ...

How about GOSBTS, but slooooower? (Not that that hasn't been mentioned a few times...)

To the question though - no, I don't think we should change.
