I'm in the situation of hoping that my team, Harlequins, lose to Northampton this weekend thus ensuring a Saturday Play-Off semi final to ensure I can see Brighton on the Sunday if needs be. If Albion had already secured 4th place I was going to sell my Wolves ticket and watch Quins as I orginally wanted them to win and get 3rd not 4th thus ensuring a Sunday match at Leicester not a Saturday one at Saracens, but now it's all up in the air. Confused, yeah so am I, and really pi**ed off. It's all f***ing Crystal Palace's fault.

Oh, and I have to pre-book my work hours for the week after next this Tuesday. I'm only allowed one evening off......

There is a very simple if unpalatable solution.

If its Palace only sell tickets to the existing home databases and no away tickets at all. We would frighten Palace with a 100% home Amex crowd!

The FL will wait until the final table is known. If we finish 4th and THE SCUM 5th we will be match A to minimise crowd trouble at both legs.

This is how it will be.

The Football League won't announce this now though, as if we get Bolton or someone else they won't need to, and the provisional dates will be confirmed.

I've arranged to go to Sunderland vs Saints on the Sunday with a friend who is a saints fan (tickets purchased this evening) based on us playing Monday as per information on official website. Grrr.

Based on the provisional dates on the website. The provisional dates they make quite clear are provisional, by using the word provisional at every opportunity.

But they added information compared to the official FL communication.

Not that it really matters, Palace won't make 5th place anyway.

If it's Palace, then the Police are bound to want it moved to the Sunday.

This is the Football League Championship play -offs we're not p**sing about with the AWS Cup anymore.

Do the Police veto the Manchester Derby on a Monday night?

The only reason we played on a Sunday is because Brighton is a seaside town you cannot have 2500 gypsy types wandering around on a Saturday afternoon.

If we finish 4th we will play Friday / Monday irrespective of opposition.

Have to say I'm with that, the OB have got the experience now and know how to handle it. Really can't see a huge difference between a Sunday lunch or Monday night ko

The fact there is at least one scenario that can mean a change to the provisional dates, and there is no official word on that, is quite naughty I think.

The club are already heavily pushing for people to buy tickets before there is a definite schedule, and we all know that they'll be ramping that up this week.

I really think they should put all information out there so people can make a fully informed choice about committing. Most people will go regardless, I appreciate that, but some won't be able to.

The reason for Naylor's tweet was that Nottingham police will not let Forest play at home on the Friday night which may complicate things. Source - D.Bloom

Don't forget that Palace play Millwall on Tuesday, so we may know that its them in the semi's if they win. So it just be final day to decided who has the home leg second (finishing 4th). So we might hear something before the Wolves game if thats the case.

As the Merry P says above Forest on a Friday could be a problem and then everything could reverse. It is not all about us playing Palace.

Not sure why they have to rush through with these matches. If I ran the Football League this is how it would pan out:

npower Championship
1st leg (match A) - Saturday 11th May 2013, kick-off 3.00pm
1st leg (match B) - Sunday 12th May 2013, kick-off 3.00pm

2nd leg (match A) - Saturday 18th May 2013, kick-off 3.00pm
2nd leg (match B) - Sunday 19th May 2013, kick-off 3.00pm

The Final would still take place at Wembley on Monday 27th May 2013, with a 3pm kick-off.

Police policed it right last time . It was only the first one they cocked up . I think they could handle a 19:45

Surely the club and the police will request the Sunday lunchtime slot if we're at home to Palace in the second leg. This season's fixtures was properly policed and all went well, so surely they'll want to do the same. That Sunday fixture gives the police all afternoon to load the away fans onto their special train home... holding them back, then escorting them onto a special train worked really well. Whereas for a Monday night fixture... time is a bit tighter, especially if it goes to extra time and penalties.

If that were the case then they would not be listed as A and B on the official League website, they would just have 3rd v 6th and 4th v 5th. Clearly it isn't a done deal as they have left it uncertain.
