[Football] Is it OK to support more than one team?

There is no game that can be played that I'm not supporting one team in.*
Doesn't mean I'm a supporter of them though.

*It occurs to me that should two teams be playing each other and a draw is highly beneficial for Brighton I wouldn't be supporting either side but if one team had to win I'd still have a preference who it was.
When Aston Villa were playing West Ham in the cup the other day, I realised I wanted them both to lose.

I think it is perfectly fine if you have a legit reason for doing so and not just to be a glory hunter.

Besides Albion, I also support and run the North Carolina Fan Club for VfB Stuttgart. Why you say? Very simple: I traced my ancestry to Stuttgart and been a fan ever since.

Also follow Charlotte FC (Local MLS club) and NK Tabor in Slovenia. Odd one there I know haha; my brother and I both invested over a 1000 bucks into the club via the Wefunder site after seeing an add on Facebook. Very cool we thought! Have gotten stickers from the club, season ticket passes, etc.

West Ham are a family club. My Dad moved down from the east end when he was too and all the family that remained are Hammers. I have a bit of a soft spot for them for this reason but ‘support’ them? Absolutely not.

Of course, I think the unwritten rule is a local team, preferably non-league, is absolutely fine and actively encouraged. I go to Seaford games quite often as it’s about 5 minutes from my house, always sure to buy a pint or two (!) to help my local club (that’s why, honest!).

I think the only thing people have issues with are people like season ticket holders who have their tickets specifically to see “their team” (Arsenal, Spurs, Liverpool, Man Utd). Despite what some claim, this is fairly common and yes, does contribute to a flat atmosphere when we’re some fans second team.

Thankfully the club are now aware of these loopholes and have rules about mandatory in-person attendance, which unbelievably some people are complaining about.
Why would people buy season tickets to see ‘their team’? It’s easy to get one off tickets for any league game you like at the Amex.

If I were say a Spurs fan living and working in Brighton, it would make perfect sense. Considerably cheaper, easy to get to, don’t lose money not going every week, get to see the stars and pop along as and when I feel like it. If not, sell it on the exchange.

A Brighton fan born and bred in Worthing, supported just Albion until my mid teens when I started going along to games at Woodside Road and since then I'd say Worthing have been my primary team as a fan - have had a Season Ticket at Woodside the past few years and usually only get to Albion games nowadays when they don't clash with a Worthing one. Never seen any issue with it given they are both teams me and my dad support and have local links to all my life. There are teams in England I have a soft spot for and are happy to see do well, but don't actively support them.

Outside other team I support is Union Berlin, and that's because my dad started supporting them when he moved to Germany a decade or so ago and the club and fan ethos, plus the matchday experience at Alte Försterei also hooked me in. Do keep an eye out for USG's results since Bloom's investment in them, but not an active supporter.

…and does wonders for the atmosphere

See I’d say “No” never, but I also support Arundel FC. I guess the chances of us ever meeting in a competitive game are remote, but we nearly did this season in the County Cup.

BHAFC are my obsession - I simply do not have the time, energy or inclination to support any other club. Including the wimmin.

Of course I find the time to despise other clubs, with great enthusiasm and gusto. But thats easy, and also it doesn't cost me anything.
