Having trawled through this thread, though i better add my thoughts.

-Not goona bother answering any of bushys inane shite, he is in the british army and they are pretty much brainwashed to be anti-irish from enrollment, the irish may have taken some british money for infrastructure etc but in my mind that is a fair payback for all the shit over the years.

Back to why i love ireland.

-As a british citizen with a noticeably british accent in over eight years i have never once been treated any differently to any irish person (except the obvious ribbibg over the rugby recently)

-Ireland has no real army-blessing in my mind

-No nuclear power or arms.

-A better attitude to both life and death, when you die over here it means something.

-Generally a better sense of community.

-In over eight years (touch wood) never been a victim of any type of crime.

-I beleive that in general the lanscape is far more unspoilt on the whole, large parts of the uk are one large town after another.

-No council tax.

-No water rates.

-In my opinion generally better schooling ( i have 2 kids)

-Less attitude, i find in th uk a lot of people seem stressed out and have a serious attitude problem.

-However I wouldnt suggest ireland is perfect and was recently in brighton and had a fantastic time and met loads of friendly/helpful people ( but im not sure brighton is the norm for the uk)

Wow. All you do is get angry. And let's see, you're not even a Brighton fan so you probably use other message boards. Do you get angry on them all the time like you do here? You must do. Can't be that people on here are so different. Don't you have anything else to do?
Not a brighton fan ? I just cant be bothered explaining anymore , suffice to say i couldnt give a f*** what someone who has revealed themselves to be as unfunny and out of touch as you ,thinks.

You reveal a stunning amount of ignorance if you are serious about the british army being 'brainwashed to be anti irish' from 'enrolment' , whatever the f*** 'enrolment' is, and your comment about the irish ' may' have taken some money over the years but that is fair payback for the shit over the years reveals the true depths of your absolute idiocy, its cvnts like you that i truly, truly hate, happily bouncin along in your airy fairy world, condoning money being spent abroad in recompense for some mythical ' shit' that neither me or any of my relatives had any part in when it could be far better spent on our own crumbling country, by all means enjoy living in ireland , it can be lovely in parts , and ive met lots of lovely irish people , but its cvnts like you that add fuel to the ' grievance , chip on the shoulder 'attitude that is all too prevalent among certain sections of irish society.

I've worked in the Republic and could not hope to ever meet a friendlier and pleasant people. I don't have any doubts that a handful of Irish people nurture some sort of deep rooted hatred but there again, can you blame them ? The vast majority just want to get on with their lives and enjoy it.

The vast majority of the Irish people i met when i went on my one and only trip to the republic were nice, in fact i don recall anyone unpleasant, on the question of would i blame irish people for nurturing some deep rooted hatred ? well yes i would , do we nurture deep rooted hatreds against the germans and italians ? no , of course we dont .

Yes, maybe so but it's only a handful and after all, though we are talking the 17th Century we did, via Mr Cromwell, commit genocide. Also, the fact that in the North Catholics were regarded as second class citizens you can see why. Don't try and tell me though there isn't a lot of resentment against countries we have had a war with, I can't stand the Japanese for a start.

I think the resentment against the japanese stems from their failure to acknowledge their inhumanity during ww2, and the fact that by and large their national psyche has changed little since then, i spent some years working for a japanese bank and can testify to this , its certainly poles apart from our stance, with handwringers constantly tying themselves in knots over things that occured hundreds of years ago.

ok so your saying noone died on bloody sunday -you certainly have swallowed something
No , im saying that the troops were fired on and the prorestors were caught in a crossfire, are you suggesting they werent and that the paras just blindly opened fire into the crowd ? Because i know the paras ,and there would have been a lot more than 13 dead if that was the case.
