Iran, Iraq & Terrorism - In Historical Context

its all very nice knowing what Ron Pauls views are, but he isnt going to get the nomination let alone win any election. even if you cast aside ones opinion of his policies, he's 10 years too old and he dosent look presidential. that matters to alot of people, they will vote for who looks and sounds right.

on policy, his economics would cast the US back 70 years. i dont care much about that thats their problem, we need to look to China and make the most of our links to India.

I'd absolutely agree with that. The funniest thing about the American system is that, because it's a close race for the nomination, the candidates will tear strips off each other (certainly the other three, Paul is trying to make out that he's above that) and that will ultimately mean that, whoever wins, the candidate will be very unlikely to win the election.

Whenever I've read about Ron Paul's successes in the Primaries I've thought of the threads you posted about him. He's still rather too isolationist for my tastes I'm afraid, although I do think he speaks some sense, particularly on some of his foreign policy.

Genuine question, do you think he's getting votes for his libertarian views or do you think it's just his sensible foreign policy and the fact he's not the other three runners?

Actually his foreign policy is the one thing that holds him back, wrongly. To win the Primaries he really needs the support of Republican voters and the Republican establishment, who are quite hawkish when it comes to war. The establishment is also pretty tight with the Military Industrial Complex, which Paul speaks out about. Not only is he not popular with the republican establishment, they actually look to demonise him. For example - "Isolationist".

"It is not we non-interventionists who are isolationsists. The real isolationists are those who impose sanctions and embargoes on countries and peoples across the globe...[and] who choose to use force overseas to promote democracy...a counterproductive approach that actually leads the U.S. to be more resented and more isolated in the world."
- Ron Paul

The corporate media really try to make him look as bad as they can, so a good rule to apply is to only judge him on what he says, not what others, who have conflicts of interest, say about him.

This video demonstrates the media bias, and also why more people need to hear him.

This clean cut, young, salesman type politician is a new thing. Really started in the 90s. I'd take age, wisdom and substance, which lends itself to honesty and consistency, over the superficial CEO management style which lends itself to deciet and inconsistency, anyday.

But you are right, its going to be tough to get him elected, especially with the media the way they are towards him. It is about delegates though and only he and Romney are on the ticket in all states. There are about 500 delegates that Santorum and Gingrich cannot get because the are not on the balot in all states. His chances are actually alot better than people think, and than the media would have you believe.

His economic policy would be to end the Federal Reserve which basically steals wealth from the people. When they cannot tax anymore, and they cannot borrow anymore, they resort to printing money. This makes everyones money worth less. If they were honest and taxed the people for the money they wanted, the people would quickly tell them to piss off. So they steal from the people decietfully by diluting their money. Saying they would go back 70 years is not really true, but the dollar today has lost 95%+ of its value since the Federal Reserve was established in 1913. Going back to a sound currency would not be a bad thing IMO.

I've got to say, as annoying as Falmer may be, he's fantastic at sidetracking threads. He's managed to make everyone completely forget that this binfest started because he made a completely unsubstantiated (nay, falsely substantiated) argument that Ron Paul didn't believe that Bin Laden was involved in 9/11.

Having an argument with Falmer is a bit like trying to nail jelly to the wall. You spend ages doing it, you even think you've got it on a couple of occasions, but ultimately it's such an insane thing to attempt that you don't have a hope in hell.

I posted a video on this thread. That is what has caused all the comotion.
The rest i will agree with....... because your talking about my ge ge ge generation baby.

You posted a video which completely did not back up your point. It's a problem I have with you (and have had in the past with dingodan, although he's certainly far saner than you), that it's easy to post a youtube video and say 'that's my position', it's much harder to lucidly outline your position in your own words, and think about what you write. Taking that extra time to consider things often leads to a more considered and therefore sensible (and defensible) perspective.

Incidentally, I don't believe that 'being difficult to argue with' is a characteristic of your generation. dingodan is (I think) of a similar age, yet much more measured in his posts, and makes genuine attempts to explain his point of view and deal with criticisms or counterarguments.

That is because it is a well thought out post written in a pleasant manner without calling anyone sad or paedo or calling them out for a bit of "face to face".

Blimey, even a young Nibble was easier to deal with than you. (Love you really Nipple)

I would suggest it's you that's reported a post - especially as in the chemtrails one you threatened to report someone for daring to post a link to another thread. Now THAT is pathetic !

And using mental disablilities as an insult is fine by you?
