Brezovan wasn't deemed good enough by a team who, last season, finished 1 place above us. Do we rate him good enough, seriously? Again, I've seen more of the chap than most on here and I'll say it again and again, he'll be a decent #2 goalkeeper but we can't rely on him long term. He's not got the self confidence to perform at a high level consistently, which is why he has always been in and out of the Swindon side and he even managed to lose his place here through faltering form, once. It'll happen again.

Another loan goalkeeper to cover Michel would be preferrable.

Diego Penny of Burnley perhaps?....

Neither has Kuipers from what I've seen, but as someone said earlier in the thread..if he COULD perform at a high level consistently he wouldn't be in league one.

Kuipers hasn't performed consistently for us? Amazing. How many consecutive matches did he play under Wilkins, and then into Adams reign? We're not exactly going back very far to find that stat, and we're not going back very far to find him play every minute of every game in the 2007/2008 season. That, to me, is consistency.

Michel Kuipers is a good League 1 goalkeeper in my opinion. Is this his level? Probably, yes. And right now, it is our level. If we happen to find a goalkeeper better than Michel and who can play for us at a higher level, should we get there, then as I've always said, that's the most important thing. Sentiment only has so much room in football, but whilst Michel remains the best goalkeeper at the club I'll continue to want him in the side.

It's a shame this injury has come along, but atleast it gives Poyet the chance to properly assess Brezovan and make his mind up about whether to keep him into next season or not.

I seem to remember a certain Bobby Zamora only being good enough for Bristol Rovers reserves until he came to us......different coaches/managers can get the best out of players that others cant....for what its worth i dont think Brezovan will set the world alight but i think hes a steady keeper who commands the box far better than Kuipers which gives our defence far more confidance....i hope Kuipers injury isnt too serious and he gets back playing soon, hes been a brilliant servant to the club but i think his time as our number one keeper is coming to the end.

Shame Kuipers is out for the season, and a big blow to his hopes of a new contract.

However, I have faith that Brezovan is good enough for the rest of this season. He has been out injured for a long time and seems to be getting better each performance. I still remain unconvinced that Brez is good enough for a promotion push next season, but for the rest of this season he will do us very well.

It will be good for Walker to get some matchday experience too.

You keep going on about his time at Swindon, but this doesn't compare to Gus's feelings about him, nor the performances [by large] that we have seen. Let it go will you

i think we need a keeper better than Brez or Kuipers to go up next season, either would be a good number 2 at this level probably Brezovan with this injury (plus Poyet signed him).

Brez to the end of the season, with Mitchell walker on the bench. Then get new keeper next season with Mitch as cover. Need to give him the experience of first team, to build his confidence. Mitch did well for the reserves during the week.

Oh for a keeper who didn't make mistakes - a robot perhaps?
Or maybe a defense that didn't expose our keepers so badly that they get to look at point-blank shots and headers for a split second as they whip past them into the net.

Kuipers has been an excellent player, brilliant shot-stopper and stalwart squad member. So, he's getting older now and perhaps in his final playing days? - no reason to think he's been rubbish all his career or even a bad player now.

His position now will probably be backing up another first-choice goalie - and that's fine. Allow the Albion veteran some honour and respect his longevity for us.
Great pro, and a better keeper than most.
