I’d have thoughts that the way modern pitches are built with sub-layers for drainage etc., they’d be fairly standard wherever they are in the country.
Im not gonna argue, because I'm totally speculating. I think it's the training pitch, which may not be as complex as the Amex turf. Having played sports in Lancing, it got me thinking. It may just be that it lengthens recovery times.

How many games has ferdi been available this season ?!? 3? It's absolutely ridiculous.

Hinshelwood as well, quarter of the season out now.

Weiffer plays a bit of football and gets injured and wellbeck just disappears.

Milner available for about 15 games since joining us .... Barely been injured in his whole career before coming to us !!

Bizarre sh1t. Something really not right with these injuries.
It seemed to me that Wieffer knackered himself doing that knee-slide after scoring

This. The Amex pitch is a hybrid (of grass and synthetic fibres) designed and installed at great expense The first team main training pitch is an exact copy of it. There’s not a chance they just dug up and used whatever local soil was to hand!
cool thanks for the clarification - didnt know

Any news on Ferdi? We miss him and he has been out for ages with no news
Fab said this about Jack and Ferdi on Dec 19th
"'I hope they are back quickly, and I also have the feeling they are back soon. But I can’t give you a clear timeframe. They are training on the pitch, they are doing rehab, and I am sure it won’t take too long.'

So where on earth are Hinselwood (apparently was close but not seen in training), Ferguson (Darren Andertons son, can forget about him ever being fit), Ferdi (that Turkish account I think said 4-6 weeks out so back for fa cup?!), Milner (seems to have totally disappeared), welbeck (radio silence so guess means he’s out for months), wieffer is a proper sick note too
There really isn't radio silence about these injuries . There's regular updates at the press conferences. There were updates on Welbeck , Ferdi , Jack, and Milner and the rest of the injured list just before christmas.

this site is good at tracking the latest quotes from Hurzeler on their progress.

Really hope that's not true. 80k a week and we allow him to live mostly in Liverpool. We are a charity of a club at times.
His family are still there and he gets a helicopter down every week to commute

Ferguson…”knock” ..well that’s detailed…leaves room for speculation

Looking doubtful any players coming back before Arsenal this Saturday but then another 12 days before next league game - surely a couple will be back by then + Gomez

He's got a thigh injury. He felt discomfort and was substituted during the West Ham game. Hurzeler said this :

"We have to see day by day how he is going.
“It is not perfect how he came out of the game but we hope it is not that big an issue.”

Also the player himself said (if I recall correctly) that it was connected to his original injury….hoping to see him at least on the bench Saturday

Imagine if we hadnt splashed the cash this summer. How thin would the squad look then?

There you have it. It is the pitch that's causing the issues!!!

Its not that bizarre or strange that players get injured. And its not that strange that their recoveries are sometimes hard to predict.
its frustrating for the players and for us but hardly bizarre.

PS: Welbeck hasn't "disappeared" - he has an ankle injury, has had scans and is now in recovery. And Hurzeler went into detail about his injury at the pre Villa press conference.

It's bizarre that our injury situation is a lot worse than the average

For 2 seasons in a row

Every business has data to aid management decision making and the like.

I would love to see the data on our player's match selection availability -
yes = available (still may not be picked/play)
no = unavailable (be it injury / illness / whatever)
Then a % available to identify the major sick-notes at the bottom
e.g. Webster, Milner, March, Hinshelwood

Who is at the very bottom??? aka least available ...
