I'm going to sound a bit rude here, but you seem a little simple, sounds like you have been told what to find funny, by parents, relatives and not giving anything new a chance. Comedy can be funny if it was created in the last 20 years. OFAH has somme absoulte toilet episodes OFITG I can't see how that is funny at all? One catchphrase and a grumpy old man, good at best.

Partridge is a brilliant character, forget your hatred for steve coogan but you clearly can't and that's why you don't give such a great comedy a chance, or simply you wasn't told to find it funny when growing up.

If I had the time, I would pile this thread with One Foot in the Grave videos, but I don't. OFAH was pure comedy gold by a brilliant writer in John Sullivan, he knew how to make people laugh and cry at the same time. (such as Episodes as Little Problems, where there wasn't a dry eye in the Building. When Del was left on his own at the end of the Reception.)

The Chandelier falling, Del falling through the bar Episode, also Del going hang gliding thanks to Rodney setting him up.

Classic.

Now tell me again, what has Alan Partridge done?!

One Foot In The Grave is actually a very cleverly written comedy which perhaps has not aged as well as other comedy series of that era and has now become remembered for Richard Wilson's catch phrase, which he didn't actually say in its entirety all that often during the entire run of the show. Its writer David Renwick previously wrote a lot of sketches for The Two Ronnies, including the much repeated Mastermind sketch and his active, surreal mind is quite often evident in the scenes and scrapes Victor gets into. The episode where Victor is alone in the flat for the whole episode was actually quite groundbreaking at the time. No-one else would take a risk of having a whole 30 minutes based around one person's dialogue. Certainly doesn't deserve to be trashed, it is hardly in the My Family league of bad comedy.

I get the impression, however, that people that don't like or rate Alan Partridge are people that don't like Steve Coogan as a person and so won't give the show the time of day, or perhaps think that Coogan is much like Partridge. The best episodes of 'I'm Alan Partridge' compare well in my opinion with the best comedy series that have been made.

Don't talk crap. Fawlty Towers is a classic comedy and has been the benchmark of British Comedy for years. Just like OFAH, one foot in the Grave etc. Alan Partridge, doesn't even compare to those classic comedies.

The guy is just like Ricky Gervais, a self-obsessed idiot who acts like the whole world involves around him and nobody else.

Good indication of this film going to be panned is the release date. School Holidays, kids everywhere for the next six weeks, it doesn't stand a chance!

Are you clinically insane? There's opinions and then there's just being plain wrong. You may not like Partridge, fair enough, but he IS just as great a comic character as Basil Fawlty. And over twenty years not just twelve episodes.

Partridge is a brilliant character who maintains a pompous superiority whilst the audience cringe and pity at the reality and desperation of his z list existence.

There are so many incredible lines and episodes and as others had said the character has successfully adapted to numerous formats over an incredibly long life span.

I think a lot of people can't see behind the smarmy creepy exterior of the character and realise that actually partridge is quite vulnerable and his desperate attempts to be liked and famous leave you wondering why you feel sorry for him.

Whilst it does not have the wide appeal of a OFAH partridge is a real gem of British comedy and am sure will be treasured for years to come

Can't wait to see Alan on the big screen

Was a fantastic day,all the main stars of the film and celebrity guests will be going to leicester square tonight but it was nice to see Graham Linehan amongst the guests. Today will live long in the memory.

Faulty Towers and Only Fools and Horses are great examples of classic British comedy. Do you wish you had stopped there? Alan partridge over One foot in the grave every time for me.
