If it works for you than good luck to you but my own experiences and many people I met I've encountered otherwise. You lose in the long run. I'm addicted to the GG's, I've made money on certain trainers. Said I would never gamble on slots again because I know it's rubbish. After winning lucky before I came out to you all I went on them. I use to always say to others they're rubbish! Once you're fixated in gambling again you forget everything because you just need your fix.

Nice to see you are staying off the gambling. Anyone who tells you they win at gambling fails to mention how many times they have lost. As for someone who regularly wins on roulette, Everyone and I mean everyone knows that is a load of crap. Absolute rubbish, they just feel the need to say something. You can stop gambling, it is hard at first but gets easier. Just stay away from the shops and if online cut your debit cards up and only have a cash card. I do speak from experience, good luck

A massive part to an addiction is lifestyle. Some people can turn their addictions around by simply changing their lifestyle. Boredom is often the cause behind addictions like gambling. Have you thought about working abroad or traveling? It really helped me when I used to gamble. I'd recommend giving yourself something to put your money towards, make it something you'll definitely look forward to.
My personal philosophy in quitting was 'never regret the things you've done, only regret the things you haven't done'
Goodluck, remember you're young which many gamblers would wish to be. It's a great time of your life being in your 20's, take advantage of it and don't waste it on gambling ever again. I'm sure you'll look back and appreciate how far you've come.
Goodluck x

Many years ago I was taught by a pro roulette player so I have to disagree.

wow, just wow. it so sad to read that people belive this and do not understand the maths of what they are doing. roulette is impossible to have an edge over, unless the game is bent (heavy ball, crooked deal etc).

i agree with this in so many ways and so do friends at GA. Thank you everyone for your nice words of support. So far no gambling to report, I have a full months pay packet next week, my first proper on in two years and this thread has also reintroduced me to a really old good friend.

If I'm not mistaken this is now Day 35. Once again thank you all especially the ones who are not compulsive gamblers yourselves. I know how difficult it can be to understand.

Well done to you. I've a lot of experience of this problem and know how tough it is ... keep it up!!

Think of areas rather than specific numbers, always go with the dealer, stay away from fast wheels don't bet until the dealer has spun at least 10 numbers I prefer 20 to see if a pattern has formed never play in the evening or on crowded tables. I also know many patterns they don't always work but work more often than you would think for example if the ball is spun anti clockwise from the previous number 21 a good bet will be 12 or the three numbers either side of 12. I have played for many years more often than not I make 300 quid a session playing with low stakes.
This is the talk of a dangerous idiot.

A thread like this will obviously attract people with gambling problems, some serious, and it is extremely unhelpful to be posting such utter, utter rubbish. Does anyone really believe that roulette would have survived for hundreds of years as a profitable business for casinos throughout the world if such simplistic "methods" held even partly true?

Anyone reading this who has already lost more than they can afford to I would advise to contact Gamblers Anonymous. It worked for me and has an excellent success rate because you meet other people who really understand and have a way to help you stop. I gambled for 14 hours a day, 7 days a week, at my peak. I had all 5 spreadbetting accounts at the time and 40 bookie accounts. I broke even for a while - mainly "selling multicorners" (that will mean something to some people!). I then got bored and became addicted to the adrenaline filled highs and lows of gambling, with ultimately disastrous consequences. My last bet was nearly ten years ago since when I haven't even bought a raffle ticket...

I'm really surprised by the amount of NSC'ers who have posted who have admitted having a gambling problem. It's sad, but, nice to hear that lots have managed to beat the addiction or keep it in check. Good luck 1066, keep fighting and you can beat it.

You can't beat the house at roulette. Mathematically impossible. All your friend does is reduce the speed at which he loses.

In a way but as less than half of the lottery money collected goes toward prizes it stands to reason that the more tickets sold, the chance of each ticket winning is reduced. But on any gambling your chances of winning can always be increased by studying the probabilities. A successful gambler doesn't pick a race then pick a horse, he studies which horse has the best chance of giving a return in all of the races.
Check out probability axioms.

That's not correct. The odds of any ticket winning is 14million to 1 regadless of how many tickets are sold. If more tickets are sold it is likely that more people will win so they will each win less but their odds of winning are unchanged.

No, it gives you 56,000,000 to 1 chance

my calculation was shit agreed, but if one ticket has odds of 112,000,000/1. How does the next ticket cover 56,000,000 chances?
The odds are based on the possible cominations being 112,000,000 different . You would need to buy 56,000,000 lines of lotto tickets to half your chances of winning it.

No, you buy 2 tickets and you double your chance of winning. If you buy 56,000,000 tickets you have a 50% chance of winning. It's basic maths. Look at it this way; if you buy 1 ticket you have 1 in 112,000,000 chance of winning. If you buy 2 tickets you have 2 in 112,000,000 chances of winning (= 1 in 56,000,000). If you buy 56,000,000 you have 56,000,000 in 112,000,000 chances of winning (=1 in 2). Do you understand now?

The first ticket is 1 in 112M and the second ticket is 1 in 112M. The odds don't halve, at best you improve your chances by 1/112M

Yes, you improve the odds by 1 in 112,000,000 meaning the odds halve. You now have 2 in 112,000,000 chances of winning, which equals 1 in 56,000,000. WHere on earth were you guys educated?

Let's try to explain this again. You are correct in that you buy another ticket, which now gives you 2 chances in 112,000,000. So you chances have doubled or your odds have halved. Do you get it yet? 2 chances in 112,000,000 is twice the probability of 1 chance in 112,000,000. It's really not that difficult if you concentrate.
