£50m of new talent benched a new midfielder who’s class just needs games benched. West Ham like Wolves targeted the space behind Milner got away with one not the other. The quality player that is Veltman benched.

I won't get into criticising RDZ, but I'm slightly surprised we haven't seen Julio yet and also surprised we've seen as much as I would have thought of Dahoud and Pedro

Does anyone know what Igor is like defending in isolation (as Webster was left to do on Saturday)?

We paid £20 million for him with only a year left on his contract so it seems natural to start expecting to see him sooner or later.

If he does have the pace to go with his obvious physical and ball-playing capabilities, it's matter of time before he starts.

In the Rayo friendly, he didn't look the quickest though. And he was shown a clean pair of heels by Bowen in the Conference final. In his defence the friendly was a friendly and he was caught flat-footed against West Ham.

I’m guessing he’s being trained in the RDZ way and what’s expected of him. I suspect it takes time for RDZ to consider a player “match ready.”

Some players are instant hits, others need a bit of time to acclimatise. I get the impression that RDZ probably doesn’t go easy on them.

From the highlights I came away with the impression that he’s not the quickest accelerator, but if I were an opposition player I’d be calling my medical insurer to check my cover was up to date before I tried to get the ball off him.

He missed the US tour so he would only have had a handful of training sessions with the squad prior to the opening PL fixture against Luton. How long would you estimate it took De Zerbi to instill his principles into the team last season - 3 months minimum? (including the World Cup break with the trip abroad).

He was very inconsistent last season. Constantly caught out of position and half asleep. But strong and quick. Unfortunately like webbo one big mistake a game type.

Season before he was amazing and on juve's radar.

Just my opinion on what I feel like is the normal now for Webster, not just a bad run of form. I used to think he was just slow recovering from injuries as it took him a few games to get upto speed after another calf twang. Now I'm slightly worried in general about him

That West Ham goal where Websters bad pass was cut out , that happens 3 or 4 times a game , normally we get away with it. Its always amazed me how often it happens and then some on here saying how amazing he is in the matchdyas threads. He's always been an accident waiting to happen

Difficult to acclimatise to something without actually doing it if you ask me

I’d like it on the official NSC record, that I was completely WRONG about Igor, after witnessing his first performance at home to AEK.

That’s not to say he’s wasn’t awful that night - but based on that showing - clumsy, careless and painfully slow - I wrote him off.

I did so way too soon, as it turns out. He’s made constant improvement game on game, and I’d actually keep him in alongside Dunk (over JPVH) on Saturday.

He simply cannot have been fit in that first game and probably shouldn’t have been asked to play it.

Anyway. Me = wrong. Igor = decent.

He got Jack Hinshelwood out of a bit of trouble last night with a saving tackle after JH had lost the ball to their sub. It would have been tragic if Brentford had equalised as a result of the lad's error.

Igor definitely in the MoM conversation last night. I think his best performance thus far, he looks like such a good player

I think that Igor and JPVH are showing (or starting to) that they can pick up the responsibilities when Lewis eventually starts to call it a day (and that will happen eventually). We will will need more in this position as I'm not convinced Adam will be here long term.

My favourite moment last night was towards the end. That strangely weak and frail looking mr burnes lookalike Dane slightly under hit a pass trying to free their winger down their right. Igors eyes lit up and he put the afterburners on to cut it out and the water buffalo sound of him coming in behind their winger made him SHÌTE himself and Julio went clean through him and swanned off with the ball.
