Sadly no longer with us, but George Michael could have been an excellent headliner in the Elton John style, imagine finishing up on “Freedom” with everyone singing it.

In terms of plausible acts, Taylor Swift was mentioned earlier and Sabrina Carpenter would do a good job too. But I’d suggest U2.

Or, left field answer, Bill Bailey. Genuinely.

Would have loved the Kinks to reform (well the three remaining originals) to get together for the legends spot. Regret that age, health and disinterest would prevent what would be an outstanding and memorable session.

James are touring loads of mickey mouse festivals, so hardly a top band for Glasto
So a band, after 40 years together, having just had a number one album, their 5th consecutive Top 6 album release and having played closing day on the Other Stage at Glastonbury last year, are just a bit Mickey Mouse?

They have been constantly touring pretty much continuously since COVID and do play "alternative" festivals, which fits in with Tim Booth and the band's general ethos.

Reviews, like this from last year's performance at Glastonbury say you might be wrong... 😁

Prince and the Revolution, saw them in Paris back in the eighties! Best concert ever went too...weird mother fker but the whole band certainly knew how to play a crowd. What a way to finish Glastonbury!

seen chas n dave at glastonbury, they were unreally good and the tent they were in was the most packedest one ive ever been in
I wouldn’t describe myself as a fan particularly, but I watched them at the White Rock in Hastings 10 or so years ago. I’ve never been to such a lively gig. The place was absolutely rocking, not a single person sat down, dancing up and down the aisles and in front of the stage. And the party continued into the Old Town long after the end of the gig. Great night.

Re: Chas n Dave.
When I was about 16 I worked briefly in A Matter Of Taste (Burger Bar) in Crawley. Chas n Dave turned up after a show at The Hawth just as the manager was turning the key.
The conversation went:
“Can we come in?
“No, we’re shut”
“But we’re Chas n Dave”
“I don’t give a f*** who you are, we’re shut” (then pulled the bind down)
I just stood there slack jawed 🤣
