If anyone thinks that Murray ...

Why are we still going on about Murray, he has gone and thats that!

Because lots of people were shouting down the pro-Murray brigade, saying:

"It's fine we'll just buy another striker who can hold the ball up brilliantly, link play brilliantly, defend from set pieces brilliantly and win free kicks and penalties brilliantly. All for about £1m."

Morons.

Letting Murray go was the worst and most stupid decision this club has made (regarding players) in my almost 60 years of supporting the Albion.

At the very least, if Gus did not want him (and if that's true Gus has a screw loose), then we should have sold him for a decent fee before his contract expired. He surely would have been worth £1.5 million.

Utter madness.

And, no, I won't "get over it".

Stop going on about him he's gone, and we shouldnt blame Gus for him going anyway, he wanted money we werent prepared to offer more for a player who had been unproven in the championship and had only had one good season with us...

But it was obvious to anyone with EYES that he was going to be a very good player in the Championship.

Yes he did look good but it would still have been a gamble and tbh if Murray hadnt gone i dont think we would've got CMS...

Promotion to the Championship has been worth far more than £1.5m. And there's no way we would have got that amount for a striker with only 6 months left on his contract, or if we sold him last summer then he wouldn't be worth anywhere near that as he hadn't been setting the league alight the season before.

I love Glenn Murray still and would happily have him back but we have to remember this is one game. He had played in most, if not all of Palace's last 8 games or whatever it was where the whole team didn't score ANY goals

Glenn Murray - has been. A League 1 side could have beaten the ManUtd Reserves last night , Slur Alex knows the European game next week is far more important financially in the long term than the League Cup.

Rather than bitch and moan about it we should look at it the other way.

We were lucky to keep him for the title season due to his transfer demands and numerous strops.

People who refer to goals when talking about why Murray ISN'T great are THICK. He is SO SO SO SO SO much more than goals. Very small part of an excellent all round game.

He's got FAR more to his game than CMS. Many more attributes. It is unquestionably Gus's biggest mistake to date as a manager.

Except the one attribute that counts - he did not want to stay and play for Brighton.

Yes he did. Those that know him have always said that.

Fine. But he wanted to stay on his terms, which were not suitable to the club. It is not as if Gus did not offer him a new contract - I read on here (but it may be wrong as a lot is on here!) that he was offered several new contracts, but they were not to his liking. So he went elsewhere. I don't have an issue with that. But it was clear that his loyalty to the club only stretched so far and that the lure of bigger bucks elsewhere overrode any desire to stay. Unlike CMS, who turned down bigger bucks, allegedly, to come to us.

Yes, Murray may have been useful to us this year, but I would rather we had players at the club who want to play for us, as opposed to having players who are only playing for us if the price is right to them. Players who show footballing ambition rather than purely financial ambition, if you see what I mean.

wouldn't fit hand in glove in our team right now is stupid. He's been one of the best players on the pitch and well worth the weekly demands he was asking for. Him and CMS would annihiliate the Championship. Just what we need.

Spot on. Happily though, there is a large number of twats among the Palace support who don't rate him either, and for the same reasons.
