Letting Murray go was the worst and most stupid decision this club has made (regarding players) in my almost 60 years of supporting the Albion.

At the very least, if Gus did not want him (and if that's true Gus has a screw loose), then we should have sold him for a decent fee before his contract expired. He surely would have been worth £1.5 million.

Promotion to the Championship has been worth far more than £1.5m. And there's no way we would have got that amount for a striker with only 6 months left on his contract, or if we sold him last summer then he wouldn't be worth anywhere near that as he hadn't been setting the league alight the season before.

I love Glenn Murray still and would happily have him back but we have to remember this is one game. He had played in most, if not all of Palace's last 8 games or whatever it was where the whole team didn't score ANY goals

He's got FAR more to his game than CMS. Many more attributes. It is unquestionably Gus's biggest mistake to date as a manager.

Yes he did. Those that know him have always said that.

Fine. But he wanted to stay on his terms, which were not suitable to the club. It is not as if Gus did not offer him a new contract - I read on here (but it may be wrong as a lot is on here!) that he was offered several new contracts, but they were not to his liking. So he went elsewhere. I don't have an issue with that. But it was clear that his loyalty to the club only stretched so far and that the lure of bigger bucks elsewhere overrode any desire to stay. Unlike CMS, who turned down bigger bucks, allegedly, to come to us.

Yes, Murray may have been useful to us this year, but I would rather we had players at the club who want to play for us, as opposed to having players who are only playing for us if the price is right to them. Players who show footballing ambition rather than purely financial ambition, if you see what I mean.
