Ah, lyrics of rhyming couplets.

One of the worst, in an otherwise brilliant song, has to be:

Don't need no politicians to tell me things I shouldn't be
Neither no opticians to tell me what I oughta see

Probably (definitely) less obscure than HWT's choice above - let's see how long it takes for someone to name that tune.

I'm gonna break out of the citeh....

Well, having seen Eddie and the Hotrods live, and being sufficiently put off by this pop pap I then gave them a swerve adter they released it, I am horrified to find it was originally a Manfred Man's Earth band song. Horrified, yet not surprised, given that it's crap. :lolol:

Worthing
As this thread has morphed into a bad lyrics/ artist you hate,May I ad my choices.
Awful, awful lyrics.

Mmm-mm, yeah, yeah
Oh yeah, yeah, yeah
Oh life, oh life
I'm afraid of the dark
'Specially when I'm in a park
And there's no one else around
Ooh, I get the shivers
I don't want to see a ghost
It's a sight that I fear most
I'd rather have a piece of toast
And watch the evening news
Life, oh life, oh life, oh life
Doo doo doo doo
Life, oh life, oh life, oh life
Doo doo doo
I'm a superstitious girl
I'm the worst in the world
Never walk under ladders
I keep a rabbit's tail
I'll take you up on a dare
Anytime, anywhere
Name the place, I'll be there
Bungee jumping, I don't care
Life, oh life, oh life, oh life
Doo doo doo doo
Life, oh life, oh life, oh life
Doo doo doo
Life
Doo doo doo
Doo doo doo
Doo doo doo doo
So after all is said and done
I know I'm not the only one
Life indeed can be fun
If you really want to
Sometimes living out your dreams
Ain't as easy as it seems
You wanna fly around the world
In a beautiful balloon

Artist’s I don’t like, Madonna.

The odd song I like, maybe 3, in all her output, the rest poppy crap.

Another inane lyric,

Jailbreak ThinLizzy

“Tonight there’s gonna be a jailbreak, somewhere in this town.”

That would be the jail , Phil.

Can you point me to a single reference I have EVER made to Toto?

Here’s something for you to diss. If you do I will ignore all your music posts as I can only assume that you were born without ears :lolol:

I was mucking around.

Watch do you reckon of that Roger McGuinn fella?

The Byrds formed before I was born, my Dad didn’t play their records. So it’s an acquired taste for me. I think McGuinn’s vocals are uniquely stunning, as are their hits, they evoke mid/late 60’s counter culture.

I think his voice and jingle jangle guitar are brilliant and the band was better than the Beatles (who they influenced by their own admission)

If you don't know them already, check out Moby Grape . . .

I do from before you were born probably

They were on the brilliant CBS Rock Machine Turns You On sampler album weren’t they?

Probably! Yes they were. They only really did one studio album, and its great. About as country rock as I get, although I do like a bit of Byrds every now and then.

I love The Byrds, Beatles, Stones, The Doors, some of The Kinks, a lot of The Who, Mamas & Papas, plus Motown …. with no shame in admitting it.

Great era for bands.

I had to check this out.

It appears that Manfred Man covered it, in 1986.

It isn’t crap.

Wow.

Loved Talk Talk, particularly the later three albums

Edit: I see that Eddie Hollis was the manager of Eddie and the Hotrods, so it wasn't a cover at all.

Not starting another thread but as another side line, musical artists (reasonably well known) with siblings in other bands?

I can think of Pete Wiley (Wah!) and Dave Wiley (Come in Tokio)
Alex Harvey (SAHB), and Les Harvey (Maggie Bell's guitarist)
Peter McCartney ('Mike McGear' of the Scaffold) and the **** in Wings.
