And another one - just like that!

27.6 Cooper to Trott, FOUR

Run rate creeps up to 7.2 an over. Then Trott crashes a boundary.

This is the problem with ruddy Trott as an ODI batsman. We are looking at a required rate of 6.3 an over and Trott is batting at 58 (i.e. 3.5 runs an over). Great if we're batting first or chasing a sub-par total but a bit of a liability if we're chasing a big target.

yeah, what a LIABILITY that ruddy Trott is!

57 off 62 balls... and holding the innings together. Just what we don't need at a time like this.

Agreed. This is a fifty over match not 20/20 you're allowed to play yourself in

To be fair to him, he's clearly upped his game since I made the comment. That's fantastic, I just wish he showed the ability to do it more often in ODIs. Too often his innings are one-paced, and he lacks the ability to go through the gears once settled.

Before today he has scored 858 runs, at an average of 53.62, with a strike rate of 77.58. I know it's ultra critical, but if you are going to score that volume of runs, there are times when you need to be able to do so quickly. Hopefully he can develop the ability to do so when required.

Cricinfo's take on "slow coach" Trott, now playing just his 19th ODI:

38.1 Westdijk to Trott, 1 run, hint of movement into the batsmen but it's easily pushed down to long on

Trott is keeping Viv's record insight of fastest to a 1000 ODI runs.

He's done his job there. Played himself in, then run a ball over 20-odd overs.

There's still some work to do here. No boundaries yet from Bell. Something's got to give and with Bopara in next it could still get very interesting...

WHY would you take a PowerPlay with Trott and Bell at the crease....? Andy Flower must be on Holland at 12/1...

I'd question the point of bringing in Collingwood with the power play on with this many wickets in hand. Surely Prior, Bopora or Bresnan having a quick smash would have been a better idea

There's only one team playing like they want to win this game, and it ain't England. Allowing the run rate to get that high, whoever you're playing against, is not clever. Should still knock these off but 7.43 runs an over required? Silly.

Can't Bowl, Can't Field and now Can't Bat.

PATHETIC.
