This from the Eurosport article i think sums up much of the discussion on this thread...

'Ibrahimovic was lucky the force of gravity existed or his speculative shot would have gone miles over the bar'

Well exactly. Pure luck!

I'd rather be presented with that 4th chance than the 2nd.

Great goal no doubt, but nowhere near the best ever.

To be fair without the force of gravity very few goals in the history of football would have gone in.

And the vast majority of us would have ended up flat on our arses without having got our boot anywhere near the ball.

Are we pro football internationals?
Even then - open goal overhead lob without looking.... most would admit to a % hope that would go in.
Zlatan wouldn't, because he is too far up himself.

I agree with ITV News it was not as good as Rooneys vs Man City and as was pointed out, who scored past a goal keeper rather than into an empty goal.

It wasn't an empty goal though. There was a covering defender, who would have been able to clear it if Ibrahimovic had not struck it with the power and direction he did.

I'd hazard a guess if you were to throw the ball up in the air at that distance and ask every professional player to replicate that goal, 90% would miss the target.

The covering defender you mention wasnt in the goal but coming towards the goal from the right back position, very slowly I might add. Yes it was good strike but a vast amount of good luck to go with the skill.

The most important thing though is whether it's luck or skill that Ibrahimovic is not as good as Buckley but better than Zaha. I can't decide myself and hopefully we can have a proper debate about it.

I'd hazard a guess if you were to throw the ball up in the air at that distance and ask every professional player to replicate that goal, 99.9% would miss the target.

Fixed
