I can only think Ibrahimovic would put a performance like that in after reading the Croydon Guardian, referring to Zaha's comments about only two better players then himself, Messi and Ronaldo. Hold your breath there maybe three, just!

What really annoys me is that because Johnny Foreigner scored it people are already saying goal of the season etc but if Rooney or Gerrard had scored a goal like that it would have been described as a hit and hope lucky goal.

how many times have you seen a) gerrards goal against olympiakos in 2005 and b) rooney's goal against arsenal for everton in 2003?

because they were both fairly routine goals for top class players, and i must have seen them both about a billion times

i bet you have NO IDEA how many INSANE goals zlatan has scored over the years because they're never shown here unless you search for them on youtube

in summary, you're talking utter twaddle....once again....and that's not even beginning the debate over whether any englishman has the technical ability to do anything zlatan does

NOt best goal of the season...simply the best goal I have ever seen.

The audacity to even attempt what he did as well as the level of difficulty make it an unbelievable moment.

Zlatan=legend.

Love it from this angle.

They've been quite clever with this. Half of the stadium had english advertising around the pitch, the other half Swedish. They obviously have two lots of cameras. Looks even better from this angle for some reason.

Also, I'm pretty sure the commentator is in love..

I do not see how anyone who even likes football can be failed to be stirred by a goal like that. It got me out of my seat.

Oh I am not saying it was unworthy, it looked amazing.
With back to goal and knowing the keeper was absent though, any one of us would have that go
You can't say it was aimed with purpose like his freekick, he was only able to guess where he was hitting the overhead with back to goal.
Yes, of course it looks spectacular when it comes off.

CMS hit a brilliant scissor WITH the goallie in his place and with 2 marking him. It went in like a rocket.
Just some perspective.

You are a hard man to please Twizzle.

That is right though, had we the presence of mind to think of it we might have had a go. But to execute it ?

Steven Gerrard has scored and seen a few goals he reckons ""It was the best goal I have ever seen. The best before that was Wayne Rooney's [for Manchester United against Manchester City]. Everyone knows how special that one was, but this one tonight, an overhead kick from 25 yards when the ball is six feet in the air ... well, only certain players can do that, and he is a special player."

It is obviously a fantastic goal, but those claiming it to be the greatest goal ever, well, in my books, are wrong. No goal (as imaginative and outrageous as it was) scored in an open goal, can be the greatest goal ever. It just can't.

Both:

and

[yt]sO3HUOexuQA[/yt]

Are better for me, and that's just overhead kicks.

And the vast majority of us would have ended up flat on our arses without having got our boot anywhere near the ball.
