We had every chance of survival? That is pushing it a bit, especially considering our budget was a mere fraction of most teams in the league the year we went down. He had lost key players through sales, we lost the backbone of the successful team through sales/injuries/near retirements and our transfer activity was virtually non-existant. There was no fight in the team towards the end as there was nothing left to fight for. Disappointing, but no all the blame should be laid at the feet of McGhee.

I remember at the end of the season feeling there were a lot of games in which we could have got enough points to stay up, but we lost those points due to mistakes by henderson. I don't remember all the matches, but I remember plymouth away was a game he cost us, the away game at crewe we were winning 2-0 and he made several mistakes which handed them the game, and against southampton at home we were holding out and we closed in on half time there was a belief that if we could hold them to half time we could get something from the game, then just before half time the ball was trickled along the six yard box, and with no pressure henderson dived down and parried the ball against mcshane's legs (and back into the goal so we went in a goal down and handed them the momentum). And he made the same mistake a week or two later (parrying the ball against gary hart) in "the relegation six pointer" against sheffield wednesday. Those are just the matches I remember his mistakes from.

We could have stayed up. Not saying your point about finances aren't valid, but man city and hull prove money isn't the be-all and end-all, the lack of finance isn't why we didn't stay up, at least not the main reason.

I wouldn't call the second season battling, more going out with a whimper than a bang from the division

We had every chance of survival and his negative tactics, especially when we were behind cost us the chance to stay up, there was no fight in the team in the end, thats why he lost the support of a section of fans.

There was no fight in the team because they were royally f***ed over by a board of directors more involved with civil war than sorting out players contracts.

we would be in the championship now if McGhee hadnt have been sacked. Is that another reason for people to hate knight.

Er no mate. It's another reason not to listen to the fans or take the views of NSC as representative of what's best for the club. I distinctly recall Dick Knight and McGhee ackowledging the disquiet amongst the fans calling for his head and so it was done as it was with Adams. Look what we've got.

I am not sure it is wise to judge a character from second hand information, whether that be fact or fictional, but whatever floats your boat.

I do remember when he first came to the club, he stated that he did not want to manage a League One side and he got his way at the end of the season.

I notice that you will not take on board second-hand criticism of Wilkins, but gladly accept a negative slant on McGhee. Double standards.

Second hand but as direct as you can get apart from his own lips there is No fiction it is 100% Fact, as i have never done fiction.

What second hand criticism of Wilkins are you referring to BOF????
