partially true, we've been misguided on the economic crisis as a cause. all sides have made that claim.

Then it's worth re-stating that the economic crisis of 2008 was caused by GREEDY bankers buying up triple AAA rated US mortgage debt that wasn't as copper bottomed as was claimed. This led to the run on Northern Rock, and Gordon Brown having to chair an emergency meeting of EU finance ministers and inject large amounts of capital into banks (to bolster their reserves) by purchasing large share positions in Northern Rock, RBS, HBOS and Lloyds-TSB.

We can argue about bank deregulation and credit levels spiralling out of control, but the whole point of deregulation is that the banks were expected to regulate themselves, they didn't do what they were supposed to, and to cap it all, we have Barclays rigging Libor and other inter-bank lending rates.

The lesson to be learned isn't one of mis-trust of Labour and it's economics, it should be the lack of trust in banks and those who run them......

A narrative that Labour simply managed to mishandle. They never got a grip on that one. Unfortunately what you describe is now the received view of the world and it may take another decade to address it.

no, the lesson learnt was mis-trust of Labour's spending, as they had maxed out all the credit when the problems came. they like to highlight the financial crisis to deflect from their poor judgment on the economy, believing the boom would last forever and debts would never need to be repaid.

The media has pretty much made your minds up for you ( as always ) as for saying you have no say if you dont vote, i wouldve voted lib dems if i could be arsed to get off my "fat arse" hoping they would try and stop the tory cuts in a coaliton but fat lot of good that wouldve done judging by the outcome. ahh well onwards and upwards, for the rich anyway

Well you can hardly complain if you're too lazy to try and change the system. Please detail how many councillors and MPs you've lobbied ? Ah, none !!! Because you're too lazy, apathetic and stupid to actually make a difference. And yes, you can make a difference if you actively engage - I have used my MP and my councillors to make a difference in my local area. Don't complain if you're too lazy to put in any effort.

Voter turn out was 66%. Your vote, along with the other 34% of the electorate that didn't vote, could have made a massive difference. That you chose not to use it does limit your right to moan about the outcome.

Maybe that 34% couldn't pick through the bullshit and lies from all parties..

If you, and all the other lazy, whingeing knobs who always expect somebody else to do things for you, had ALL got off your arses and voted Lib Dem then maybe you would have got the MP you wanted. Then imagine if the same happened all over the country, in every constituency, you might have actually got a Lib Dem govenment. But no, you find it easier not to leave the house but sit at your PC and moan and complain that it is not fair, unlucky, life ain't fair! Do something about it you saddo!

I assumed from the opening post that this was a mad fishing trip.

My family is currently going through a process with a relative that has involved paramedics, two hospitals and health centre and a GP. The paramedics were fine; every other part of the system has at times deteriorated into shoddiness and bureaucratic nonsense, to the considerable discomfort of the relative concerned. Like all individual examples this proves nothing at all except that every service, whoever provides it, can second rate.

There is nothing wrong with privatisation in itself and the NHS is less privatised than some European health services. It depends how it is done and whether the underlying principles are preserved. The greatest disservice that can be offered to the NHS is to assume that the current model can drift along unchanged forever, like some ancient religion. Private provision of healthcare can be a terrible thing. It can also be a hospice.

Permanent Secretary to the Treasury, Sir Nicholas Macpherson has contadicted Tory pre-election claims saying financial crisis was " a banking crisis pure and simple." Unfortunately, millions of gullible idiots fell for the Tory spin.
