so it will still be there then. not quite the same thing as the OP was stating

No, it won't, it will be profit, not service motivated. Back to the days of paying the doctors bill, rather than free GP services. We already have Private GP's surgeries at Railway stations and Airports, they will soon start to appear on your high street.

I'm off to enquire about medical insurance..............

I think today's results clearly show there will be no riots, no citizens demands being forcefully demonstrated. Indeed it has demonstrated we will willingly sleepwalk into a nightmare and never have the guys to stand up for ourselves.

We have been brainwashed in to feeling that we have a collective responsibility for an economic crisis we did not cause and that only the Tories " We are all in this together " tough love policies can get us out of it.
However, none of them will be waiting months for an operation, none of them will be without pension provision, none of them will ever have to make a choice between having the heating on or eating each day. When DC retires in 5 years time, don't expect to bump in to him next to you in the queue at Lidl.

I hope you are fit and healthy and that you have never given a DNA sample to the medical fraternity that might indicate a genetic predisposition towards Heart problems, Diabetes or MS or similar. If you are 50 ish and its time for your metaphoric Cam Belt to need replacing, watch out.

Ironic you should mention that, my last health check with the local surgery nurse was only 6 weeks ago, Having been weighed, my blood sugar count measured, and discussing my alchohol and tobacco intake (minimal ), she fed the results into her laptop and was told I had a 4.7 % chance of a coronary 'event' happening. At 49 I think I'm in good condition and the nurse seemed to confirm that. I did rather regret calling her 'Count Dracula'.

Chronic conditions are a different matter altogether and need a lifetime of care and treatment, and I can sympathise why a private healthcare system that refuses some people any form of cover will be of huge concern to those affected. Any one of us can develop the big C, all we can hope for is that treatment is available when we need it. I don't want to see GP and Hospital care go the same way as dentistry, I have had to use a private dentist for many years and it was a cost that I could ill-afford, but nor did I want to loose my teeth either.

good, the current system is archaic. many years ago i was quite ill and went to GP near home "sorry, you're not on our records. you'll have to go your GP or A&E.". A&E was miles away by bus. "my" GP was where i registered 10 years before, in central London. in the end i went to a drop in center by Victoria. My missus and i have since availed of the drop in centers several times, much better than GPs. now that was a provision under Labour but i see that its expanded, and in principle its part of the way NHS needs to change, moving access points to where we need them, not a centralised management thinks we want them 50 years ago.

And I can guarantee that you don't know anyone in receipt of Disability Living Allowance or a carer's grant, or in need of social housing. Tories - bunch of I'm all right jack wankers.

No, bunch of put the country before ourselves patriots.

I've never had to use a private dentist. I've always found one that provides NHS cover whenever I've moved.

I think over the coming years, as the harsh realities of this government are realised, civil unrest is inevitable.

It really is a matter of how bad things get for how many people.

So what you are saying is, 'although the new government was democratically elected, it is OK for those on the other side to attempt to use violence to get their own way?' Where have I heard that before I wonder..........

I've always thought that when people (whatever their political stance) become MPs (or, alternatively, when their side comes into power) they should be made to use public services instead of private, might see a bit more investment then

partially true, we've been misguided on the economic crisis as a cause. all sides have made that claim.

Indeed, or if an MP has to come and visit a hospital he should have to personally pay the same parking charges as the staff and any free lunch is off the same recipe checklist as that given to the patients.
