Brighton have 4000 fans who would turn up to watch them in the Conference, we are down to the bear bones of the support at the moment, that is because of mainly Withdean, people are sick of the whole experience, that was shown by less than 5000 BHAFC fans coming on a pleasant dry and very mild November day to watch a team on a good run.

I often wonder if the club shot themselves in the foot by installing all the extra seats? The easier it is to get tickets the less people seem to bother.

The crowd will continue to be piss poor at Withdean now for the next 3 seasons. A lot of people are keeping their money dry and saving up for a sth for Falmer I would think and they will then come on board.

Also there are a lot of other things to do than watch extremely average 3rd division football ( the football on offer since 8/06 from all teams has been woeful ) for a team in transition with no genuine expectations of progress for 2-3 more years in a crap stadium with crap burgers, no facilites and queues for the loo. Its a crap experience even on a dry day. We could see 4000 in January in the South Westerly gales and rain. Is £ 25 value for money, absolutely not, I had 100 times more entertainment at the Theatre Royal Saturday before last watching Slava's Snowshow for £ 27 than going to Withdean. Is it Dick Knight fault, emphatically no, its not even Wilkins fault, it is as it is and being told off by " superfan " Tim is not going to change that.

Why do I do it, because I love my club.

Sums up the situation well fans home and away HATE Withdean and there is nothing that the club can do to change it other than get promiotion and hope that the improved standard MAY encourage more to come here during the building of Falmer.

For what its worth, I was working on Saturday so I couldnt go, but even if I did have the day off I doubt that I would have paid £25 plus beer/food money to watch!

This doesnt mean that I dont support the club as much as anyone that goes to games week-in-week-out, it just means that I have other things that I would rather spend my time/money on!

Oh and Lord B/Yorkie, My girlfriend is at uni in Kirkstall.

The atmosphere was also a lot better with the away fans being closer.

I remember the Northwich cup game last season when they put the away fans in the east stand and from the family stand it started to sound something like a football ground should sound.

Supporting your LOCAL football club is like a marraige.

'in sickness and in health, till death do us part'

That is how i see it anyway.

I think at that time we were expected / hoped to be continued contenders in the Championship

I always find it quite odd when people add in the cost of food, etc to the cost when they are calculating the expense.
So having decided not to attend the football, do you not eat or drink anything all day? :jester:

And I disagree with your second point, or at least your definition of 'support'. It is money through the tills that SUPPORTS the very existance of the club. Don't get me wrong, I'm not questionning anybody's love of the club, or how big a FAN they are, but by my reckoning there are only two ways that you can claim to SUPPORT a football club;

1. By supporting the club, financially.
2. By supporting the players vocally [at the game].

Sitting in the North Stand as a one off Saturday I was quite shocked at the vast swathe of empty seats in the South Stand, rows d, e, f and g are pretty much full, c and h are half full but a, b and j are very empty, obviously we have lost a fair % of the season ticker holder fan base this year and the butterflies are not tempted by the football on offer or facilities, as someone said earlier the only way we will see the seats filling or being sold out is if we get back in the championship
